Time for the next thread.

I think Brodie is a good looking lad, and I like his hair.

I don't find any of the characters disgusting, but dislike the ones I'm supposed to (eg Theo, or Tracy) which is as it should be. If we liked all of them it would definitely be a sign of poor acting grin. I couldn't care less about the number of gay characters - a love story is a love story - and like having people like Evelyn to make me laugh. Corrie has always been good at domineering matriarchs, and Evelyn is following in the footsteps of Blanche, Phyllis and Ena.

They could make more of Brian, maybe as a Norris-type character, and I'd like to see Fiz do more than she does. She was good when John Snape was on the go, and is capable of much better storylines. I think if they rationalised the cast, so they have fewer people doing more it would work better. The actors would be paid more, so they could attract good ones, and meatier storylines would be better for the viewers.

I'm far from ready to stop watching, and I don't think Corrie has lost its soul, but it could do with an injection of oomph. I've said it before, but three hours a week is too much.

Kate 1949 I too think Tia Wardley is going to turn out to be an anagram. I am a couple of episodes behind if this storyline has moved on.

An anagram for Tia Wardley is ‘dietary law’. ( I’m not clever. I cheated and googled it!)
Weird, I thought, but dietary law is a thing, it appears,

Incidentally, BlueBelle, I wasn’t the only one to remark on Brody’s greasy hair. Calendar girl mentioned it too! (at 06.51).

Crossstitchfan Sat 06-Sept-25 17:49:58

Brody’s hair looks horribly greasy to me, BlueBelle. Have I got it wrong? Is it my tv? In my defence, I had to sit next to a girl with very greasy hair at school, added to which she stank. It’s given me the ick about greasy hair ever since. Funny how childhood occurrences can shape your feelings later in life.
Debbie’s singing was amazing. I was impressed, but I’m not sure she would actually have done that. Perhaps I have misread her.
Maybe I just have a fit of the grumps at the moment! I find a lot of characters on Corrie annoy me or disgust me, but I can’t help it. I just think the scriptwriters could do better. They seem to be making a lot of things, and people, different and, to me, sometimes unbelievable.
I think I should be quiet. I am turning into a right old moaner. So sorry!

BlueBelle Sat 06-Sept-25 17:34:13

What’s wrong with Brodies hair I think he’s got nice hair why does it turn your stomach * Crosstitchfan* ? And I think Debbie was great last night with her enthusiastic singing
Theo is a strange character I don’t like his character but he’s upped his game a bit in the acting stakes and doesn’t seem quite so wooden I don’t like his like George but hies heading for trouble with whatsit
I don’t have any problem with the gays kissing although I think there are way too many in one small area

JenniferEccles Sat 06-Sept-25 17:00:35

I seem to recall someone else saying that Kate1949 and they came up with something!

It may have been the tv critic in the Mail.

Nansypansy Sat 06-Sept-25 16:55:22

I don’t understand why there are so many gay or bisexual characters on Coro …. Surely it’s a bigger percentage than reality. It makes me cringe every time the he’s or the she’s go in for a kiss. I must be showing my age, but I’m so nearly so put off that I might stop watching it.

Kate1949 Sat 06-Sept-25 16:49:01

Why does Tia Wardley sound like an anagram of something else or is that just me?

Crossstitchfan Sat 06-Sept-25 16:41:36

Brody and his disgusting hair are turning my stomach. The dreadful Christina was awful last time she was on and is even worse now. The saga of Theo and his problems is boring as all hell, and he is one of the most dislikable men on tv. The new upcoming storylines look like they will be a load of doggy doo -doo, and I’m not sure I can cope! Don’t get me started on what the scriptwreckers are turning Debbie into! (I’m not sure Debs is the one who’s demented!!)
As you will have gathered, I am no longer a fan! After over 60 years!! Something is very wrong. Corrie has lost its very soul.

Maggiemaybe Sat 06-Sept-25 16:22:35

I thought she had a good voice. smile in fact I enjoyed last night’s episode, on the whole - it’s about time we had a bit of humour, imho.

What do we think was the significance of the woman in the baseball cap at the hospital? That sounds a bit like a Cluedo guess, doesn’t it? I’d recorded Corrie and meant to check back on how she bumped into Roy at the hospital. But of course forgot and deleted it.

Aveline Sat 06-Sept-25 12:26:42

Debbie is really irritating me these days. Ludicrous overacting and now pub singing in the corner shop. Dev probably gave her the milk free just to get her out of the shop.

CrosstitchFan,
'Tyrone' actor, Alan Halsall, was in Heartbeat episode 114, Series 8, from 22nd November 1998.
He plays a boy who is a bit cheeky but essential good and well-meaning, in a pollution story.

Thanks! I shall go and look for it. I would have seen him at the time as I loved Heartbeat, but obviously it wouldn’t have meant anything.

LovesBach Sat 06-Sept-25 12:15:04

Alan Halsall was also in an episode of 'Hetty Wainthropp' - he looked about fourteen.

Doodledog Sat 06-Sept-25 11:09:42

Debbie is a good character and played well, but she would irritate me to the point of distraction if I knew her grin

Aveline

It was the 'precinct' not the street that Costello picked up 'Tia'

I stand corrected Aveline but it’s still on the doorstep. I know I saw the kids play area.

I thought Fridays episode had more lighthearted moments than of late - Evelyn’s back! Debbie and Glenda were also good value. I’m a bit worried about Roy and his back problems.

Calendargirl Sat 06-Sept-25 06:51:44

I think the Tia Wardley storyline will be another dragged out load of rubbish.

I’m fed up of hearing about the saintly Becky, who was a devoted police officer, wife, mother, all round good egg.

Why on earth did the scriptwriters give her the same name as the other Becky, who went off abroad somewhere?

A different name would have been better.

Brody’s horrible greasy hair is revolting. How on earth
would Betsy fancy him? Have neither he nor Dylan learned anything after their spell in the Borstal place?

Carl seems to have morphed from being a philanderer to all out rogue in a couple of episodes.

Primrose53 Fri 05-Sept-25 21:44:53

I fear for poor Todd.

The boss at the Police Station picks “Tia” up right in the middle of the street after her meet up with Kit and Lisa. Surely a senior detective would say catch the tram and we’ll meet up well away from the street.

Calendargirl Fri 05-Sept-25 21:06:07

Oh, of course, Todd has forgiven him!

Plus he forgot to mention he didn’t actually attend the therapy session.

No interest in all this Tia Wardley nonsense, the girl playing her seemed to be Lauren’s clone, same mannerisms and way of speaking.

Hope Brody and Dylan (and Carl) get caught.

Crossstitchfan Fri 05-Sept-25 19:27:21

Ooh, what fun! Where is the episode please?

Grannycool52 Fri 05-Sept-25 19:00:24

I'm watching an adolescent 'Tyrone' playing a schoolboy in an old episode of Heartbeat right now.
