Time for the next thread.

I really think George and Jenny would be a good match. But a happy couple would never suit the writers, so no doubt we’ll be stuck with conniving Christina for a long while yet.

I just can’t wait to see the back of Theo and his whole horrible family. Vile Karl as well. I’m not sure why he and Abi are so worried about Tracey’s pathetic blackmailing attempt - the sooner poor old cuckolded Kev knows the truth and the happy couple ride off into the sunset the better all round, surely?

Primrose53 Tue 02-Sept-25 08:52:12

I thought the scene between Karl and James was pretty disgusting and just not appropriate for dear old Corrie.

They were flirting with each other and arranging their next “session” and there was smutty talk of big ends, pistons and Wankel engines.

Rita’s starting to look quite doddery, not surprising at her age. Still does her lines well.

I thought Jenny was discreetly helping her walk, sit down etc through all their scenes.

Poor old Rita. That wig needs sorting out. As if a lady of her advanced years could possibly have such thick, red hair as that!

I hope Todd changes the locks and doesn’t let him back. But it’s more likely Theo is going to come and go subjecting poor Todd to his vile behaviour.

George was intuitive a while back and picked up on Liam being bullied and was supportive. But he’s so busy having his head turned by the ghastly Christina he can’t see what’s going on.

It’s time the wardrobe dept supplied George and Todd with something to wear out of work hours. It’s ridiculous that they socialise in their funeral suits. It’s not like they’ve got far to go home to get changed out of their work clothes.

The nearest George came to relaxing his clothing was when he was fixing Jenny’s water leak and removed his suit jacket and tie. The unbuttoning of a couple of shirt buttons was a step to far for poor Jenny and she’s not been right since then😆

Calendargirl Tue 02-Sept-25 06:49:54

What’s the betting Theo will turn up next episode, sober, apologising to Todd, saying his ‘head was all over the place’ after the mediation, Todd will welcome him back with open arms….

Does Theo ever work? How does he afford maintenance for his horrible children, buy lunch at the Bistro on a daily basis and drink at the Rovers plus bottles of whisky at home?

Why does he need mediation to see his children? How old are they? Surely they are old enough to decide to see him or not?

But that’s not how it happens at all, ever, Clawdy

Clawdy Mon 01-Sept-25 22:19:50

They will prolong this awful abuse story, when they should have Todd ending it straight away.

nanaK54 Mon 01-Sept-25 21:52:25

That was a hard watch poor Todd...

Charleygirl5 Mon 01-Sept-25 21:52:07

Change the door locks and keep Theo out. He will be back, acting as though nothing has happened. He is so obnoxious.

Diffuser Mon 01-Sept-25 21:20:32

Tonight's scenes were both frightening and upsetting. I actually felt a bit sick watching it. Just draw a line under this dreadful controlling and toxic relationship Todd.

Calendargirl Mon 01-Sept-25 20:58:08

Oh Todd, just let him go!!!

^From January 2026, Coronation Street will air 30-minute episodes at 8:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.^ according to google.

I think I’d prefer two longer episodes, but it might work. Though yes, I’d have thought they’d lose advertising revenue.

8.30 pm.

Does that suggest even more ‘adult’ themes?

Aveline Mon 01-Sept-25 11:48:15

Corrie has a huge team of writers. I expect that some are better than others. Also different storylines might be hard to combine if there are different writers for each one. There must be someone with an overall view of the way things are going though. I wonder when they'll spot the overdone gay themed.

CoolCoco Mon 01-Sept-25 11:47:44

I record Corrie and scroll through the ad and any scenes with Todd and Theo. Makes for a short episode.

Charleygirl5 Mon 01-Sept-25 11:12:36

We will only be losing 30 minutes next year. There has been no mention of two one-hour episodes a week, which is my preference.

I also prefer quality to quantity and if more people watched, the adverts would also increase surely.

Sarnia Mon 01-Sept-25 11:00:33

It stands to reason that extending the frequency of episodes results in poorer quality in scripts and storylines. Twice a week for 30 mins each episode is fine by me. Maybe Corrie will improve because of that.

Calendargirl Mon 01-Sept-25 10:48:35

It would be good to reduce it back to three half hour episodes a week, or two one hour ones.

Aim for quality, not quantity.

Maybe the advertising revenue comes into it though? ATM, it’s three ad breaks an episode.

Bukkie Mon 01-Sept-25 10:20:54

From January Corrie and Emmerdale are reducing their episodes but I can't remember the details. I remember when we only had 30 minutes of Corrie on a Monday and Wednesday

Crossstitchfan Mon 01-Sept-25 10:10:44

I would prefer two episodes as well. Is that likely to happen? I haven’t heard anything about it.

Charleygirl5 Mon 01-Sept-25 10:06:03

I am aware it is their job but writing a script for an hour three times a week must be horrendous. They do forget we are happy to read and see the mundane, but a bit of humour could be added. They think we are shocked seeing Carl in bed with James. I, like most others, couldn't care less who hops into bed with whom.

I have a faint hope that when the episodes are reduced, the content may improve. I would prefer an hour x2 a week.

Clawdy

Why on earth would Jenny think that coffin could be empty when George was the undertaker, and would have prepared the body??

It was just beyond stupid.

BlueBelle Well, I didn't mean shock as in shock horror
