Can’t believe it’s that time already. It seems to have gone by so quickly and there have been fewer televised concerts.

Watching Alison Balsom at the moment. A shame she is retiring.

I loved the conductor, the orchestra sounded so alive and enjoying themselves. I thought the first half was lovely and the soloists were superb.

I was a regular like Monica, trotting along after work to the Albert Hall. I used to enter the ballot for last night tickets and was lucky enough one year. It was quite an experience, not like the sedate usual performances. I have also been to a first night.

I must say I found last night’s audience rather disrespectful to the soloists. I am all for a bit of fun but not during the music.

Oh yes, of course! In my defence it was over 50 years ago, and still that quick brown fox jumps!!

I can't say I enjoyed all of it but it was good to see that the tradition lives on complete with the silliness and light heartedness on the one hand and the traditional elements on the other.

One thing that bugs me is that, long before Queen even existed, I had a 78rpm record of a piece entitled "Bohemian Rhapsody." I can't remember who composed it or recorded it and the record was lost or broken years ago.

It was Dvorak. I still haven’t got used to Bohemian Rhapsody being by anyone else!

Oh Duh!!! blush

I used to listen to Dvorak with friends when we were teenagers too!

I thought the promenaders were quite restrained Gin Where were tje party poppers and whistles? I remember my mother getting very cross about them.

I really loved watching it last night, as I do every year, and I watch it to the end every year..

I thought it was better without all that.

A highlight for me was The Gathering Tree composed by Rachel Portman who is widely known for her film scores.
Perfect choral music for a Last Night.

Quite agree... that was wonderful!

I never watch the very end of the last night of the proms, I don't like audience participation.
Bohemian Rhapsody was enjoyable but the singer was not that good. Needed someone with an operatic voice rather than west end musical one.

My husband wanted Nimrod played at his funeral. I’m another who loves I vow to thee my country

I well up when listening to Nimrod no matter what the situation I’m in.
