I have followed 7 Up since I first watched as part of my social work studies. Michael Apted who began this long story of children in the 60 s died a couple of years ago and 70 Up was in doubt but it’s being filmed and released next year,
I for one am looking gireatd to it .

me too, am same age as participants and have followed it through the ages. Hopefully many are still willing to participate

The latest Up is to be shown next year .
I have watched from the first programme and found it fascinating. The children who were interviewed whdn they were 7 are now 70 and those who have followed their stories will be as pleased as I am that despite Michael Apted’s death a couple of years ago it is to be continued as was his wish.
I think they should start again with 7 year olds who have come through COVID necause comparing snd go trashing lives of children in the 50 s is very different to those born this century. It’s a fascinating watch.

Apologies for typos delete go trashing do nt know where that came from

Will definitely watch.

I meant to say comparing and contrasting….

I really liked Neil but most of my fellow students liked Tony who did do what he wanted to do at 7, he became a jockey.

I've followed it through the years, sadly a couple of them have now died.

mumofmadboys Mon 15-Sept-25 17:11:27

I have loved following it and look forward to 70 up

MayBee70 Mon 15-Sept-25 17:55:13

Bitter sweet it will be but, yes, I’ll be watching it, too.

adrisco Mon 15-Sept-25 18:00:48

I'll be watching - I'm the same age as the participants. Looking forward to it, but agree that it will be bitter sweet.

I love this programme and still have some of the previous ones recorded.

We are all heading down the same road, and it is interesting - and sometimes very moving - to see how their journey has been at different stages.

NotAGran55 Mon 15-Sept-25 19:59:10

It always brings tears to my eyes.

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 15-Sept-25 20:19:12

I look forward to it.

rafichagran Mon 15-Sept-25 20:27:19

They were a year older than me, I have enjoyed watching it though the years.

V3ra Mon 15-Sept-25 21:59:21

We've watched it all through our married life, the participants are a year older than us. It's been a real privilege to share their stories 😊

I really liked Neil but most of my fellow students liked Tony who did do what he wanted to do at 7, he became a jockey.

My favourite was Nick Hitchon, the farmer's son who wanted to go to the moon.

Sadly, Nick won't be in the next programme as he died two years ago.

RIP Nick

I’m hoping to watch as usual.

I am surprised I didn’t even notice the ratio of girls to boys until later. There were more than twice as many boys as there was girls.
It says a lot about the times and attitudes at that time.

rafichagran Tue 16-Sept-25 16:44:25

I have to say I was not keen on the girls/women. One was very surly. I liked Tony who became a jockey and the posh one who did not appear in some of the later programmes. He was a private school boy who wanted to be a judge.

It would be interesting to see all the programmes in order, on consecutive nights

silverlining48 Tue 16-Sept-25 17:45:22

They usually show back stories of the participants when talking to them.

It is available on ITVX if you want to see it all.

LovesBach Tue 16-Sept-25 22:29:31

Such an innovative idea, and I have seen all programmes. It will be interesting to see where they are now - some no longer alive, sadly.
