Celebrity Traitors - may the oldies rule!

Celebrity Traitors starts tonight at 8 pm.

I'm looking forward to it, there's some reasonably good brains competing.
At least two of the contestants are pensioners - Celia Imrie (Calendar Girls, Marigold Hotel etc) and the erudite Sir Stephen Fry.

I use to sing the whole rhyme too Notspaghetti I think the word pussy has a different meaning now though 🤣🤣🤣

I think Claire is as much of a big name as JR and SF. The 'big dogs' thing is rather flawed, IMO.

I hope David hasn't been murdered. He hasn't had much air time yet, whether that's because he hasn't said much or because of the edit is anyone's guess. Is it Charlotte, Kate or David to go? If I've remembered that correctly, I hope it's Kate. I'm not sure what it is about her I'm not keen on (a bit like with Tom) but I find her irritating.

Maggiemaybe Fri 17-Oct-25 16:35:40

I feel the same way about Kate, Doodledog, and to a lesser extent about Charlotte, so I’m hoping David is spared. The big dogs thing is getting a bit irritating imho - Stephen and Jonathan must be lapping it up.

Parsley3 Fri 17-Oct-25 17:03:28

I agree about the "Big Dog" thing being flawed but I can see why it has come about. SF and JR would like to be seen as Mr Important but none of the celebs lack merit, even Lucy with her little girlie voice ( which I find very irritating, by the way). However, I have had enough of the dogs and want them both gone so the others can get on with it. Murder SF and banish JR asap, imo.

I misread that and thought Doodedog was a Celebrity Traitor.

Now, which one? 🤔

Agree with all of this except that I’m not irritated by Lucy 😊. Glad Claire and Tom have gone, sorry about Ruth and Nico, don’t mind one way or the other about Tameka as I didn’t know her before and didn’t know her afterwards. I want Joe Marler or David Olusoga to win!

Absolutely BlueBelle!

I think at some point we should know which charities the celebs are supporting. I think they should either say this as they are voted off as extra publicity for the charity (especially less high-profile ones) or tell the guy who presents Uncloaked and publicise the charity that way.

I think this purpose by the celebrity series is being overlooked but would add a better dimension to the whole thing.

NotSpaghetti Sat 18-Oct-25 12:30:27

Good idea Keepingquiet but I wondered if they had all pre-recorded charity things - on the assumption that they would be used later.

OldFrill Sat 18-Oct-25 15:11:42

Maybe the celebrities could be encouraged to donate some of their £40,000 fee to whichever the charities they are supporting.

lemsip Sat 18-Oct-25 16:24:56

They are entitled to their fee, they are 'at work' so to speak! It is not our business as to who gives to charity or not!

escaped Sat 18-Oct-25 16:26:38

I agree.
The £40,000 is part of their earnings. It may seem a lot, but most celebrities don't have a regular income. It depends on projects coming their way. They are often freelance and what they earn fluctuates. They also have to pay their own expenses - agents' fees, travel costs, wardrobe, etc. Charlotte Church, for example is hardly rolling in money, and lives in a semi detached in Cardiff. Others might earn more, but it wouldn't be fair to expect everyone to donate some of their fee.

I h e just binge watched the first four episodes, whilst batch cooking and sorting out my bedroom.

Thoroughly enjoying it so far, personally I would like to see either Kate or Alan to win.

😂

I'd be hopeless. I'm far too trusting, and struggle not to show my feelings on my face, so I'd be no good at being either a traitor or a faithful.

Ooh, you could just be saying that, Celia 😁

Channelling your inner Joyce, I think.

I really meant the prize money, which is paid for by our license fee, as is their wages.

Charlotte Church is probably the most likely to donate her fee, or proportion, to charity.

escaped Sun 19-Oct-25 08:15:36

True, OldFrill, CC has given away lots of her earnings in the past. If I were her, I'd hang on to what I got from now on, having a young family of her own.
I rather like her, she doesn't overthink things

foxie48 Sun 19-Oct-25 08:30:33

I'm really enjoying this series. I'm really sorry Ruth has gone, I thought she was very funny. I don't think Jonathan will last much longer but Cat will, I think.

The prize money does go to charity.

What they do with their fee is their business (as long as they pay the appropriate tax).

Yes Ruth was good.
But I didn't like her hair and makeup! 🤨

ClicketyClick Sun 19-Oct-25 13:24:36

I too liked Ruth but found her mouth and lippy very distracting. Gutted that Paloma went so early as I find her to be hilarious.

Yes, I know the prize money will go to the charity the winner chooses (or the winners as the case may be).

I also know their earnings are their own business.

I was just assuming they already know which chairity each celebrity has chosen if they win, so why not let people know as it would increase the profile of the charity. I just think as license payers it would be nice to be told which charities may be chosen that's all. I think if I knew which charity was going to benefit it would add an extra factor in the celebs popularity but would have no impact on the game.
It would also add something if they announced who their chosen charity would have been as they are banished.

I read recently that Ding Dong Bell was based on the ducking stool. Pussy was the unfortunate who was ducked.
