Since there is rarely anything on television these days except reality, dating, quiz or antique shows, we have taken to watching old series on IPlayer. These are series that we didn’t watch first time round but now find we enjoy them such as Waking the Dead, Silent Witness and Spooks. Does anyone else enjoy watching these?

I misread what you’d written and thought you wrote The Walking Dead which I really enjoyed watching with my daughter. I’ve never seen Waking the Dead as not a fan of Trevor Eve.
I’ve rediscovered The King Of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond which I only saw a few episodes of each when they first came out and was never really a big fan of but I’m enjoying them a lot more now.
I’ve also started watching Frasier I’ve never seen it before as it never appealed to me but i absolutely love it now. I love Niles and Daphne. Loving Eddy the dog too lol.
Oh I just remembered about Cheers which of course is the precursor to Frasier which I’ve just started rewatching that as well. They don’t write them like they used to that’s a fact. They are truly delightful.
My mornings are filled with entertainment now.
I watch them all in bed.

King Of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond are so funny. We love them both.

I’ve been enjoying old comedies on BBC Four. The Good Life, Yes Minister. Much better than anything now.

I too enjoy the 'oldies' such as Heartbeat, The Bill, The Secret Army etc. At least I can hear what they're saying. Perhaps it's my hearing but some of the modern 'stories' are difficult to understand.

We watched Raymond this morning - it was hilarious.

The Talking Pictures channel has masses of older films and series, plus the very entertaining 'Footage Detectives' (Sunday teatime), which has lots of flashbacks to the old days, old ads, products, performers, or someone's old film footage to investigate.

And TPTV Encore gies you an online re-run facility.

Other channels like Drama, Gold, Yesterday (!) etc all have lots of reruns of favourite shows. New Tricks seems to be on a permanent loop, and I see Lovejoy is on at present.

Oh, and there's a set of chnnels called Thats TV (1,2,3) also with a host of old favs, Upstairs Downstairs is in its first series, a show I never saw much of (& can be compared to Downton of course -- though the latter has a far bigger budget!!). Let the TV guide be your friend?!

I wouldn't mind a complete re-run of Rising Damp. The late Leonard Rossiter was the ultimate sardonic, racist, snobbish, money-grubbing seedy landlord.

But, due to political correctness and wokery so much of each episode would be redacted it probably wouldn't be worth watching, sadly.

Silent witness is so good , however I keep finding great films on Netflix I just surf until I come on a film I think I would like. I also enjoy people finding long lost relatives on tv some story’s are really so sad,
I remember my neighbours daughter having to give up her son for adoption many years ago it’s what was expected over 50 yrs ago - a bloody disgrace

Worked my way through the first three series of Soldier. Soldier and I was amazed how good it was and, barring the cars and fashions, didn't seem dated. It was written by an ex soldier, so is quite realistic, and the stories can veer between the sad, the happy and quite amusing. Robson Green really made the show as the soldier who is always in trouble, but always wins in the end.

We enjoy rewatching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister, and May to December.
Sadly they also remind us how many of the cast of some programs are now dead.

I can find loads of old series on Dailymotion. If you don't mind adverts every 10 minutes( well they only last about 2 minutes), there are plenty of classic BBC and ITV dramas on there.
Except for the occasional drama, film or documentary, I've largely given up on modern television. I have little interest in sport, so wouldn't see the point of getting Sky in, and hate reality shows, game shows and soaps.
