Murder Before Evensong

I read the book and thought it was a bit slow.
At the time I thought it would be perfect if transfer to a TV series.
The casting is good, last night was promising, hope it doesn't tip into another "Granchester"

I used to love the old Miss Marples.
I have happy memories of my husband and I settling down with a glass of wine to enjoy the stories.

Boz I agree, the scenery is lovely. I lived in Shropshire for very many years. I left for family reasons, fourteen years ago. Now that my family have returned to Shropshire I shall soon be back too.

I hope you will be happy here. I love its beauty and it accessibility to the Midland cities and the gateway to Wales.

If it’s anything like the old Miss Marples (Joan Hickson only) I’ll certainly be looking out for it.,

I haven't read the books so have no preconceptions about characters.

It was very enjoyable, if a bit slow, and I thought Amanda Redman was very good as overbearing mother!

As soon as it started I said to DH "oh good, it's set in Shropshire or Staffordshire, I recognise the kinds of villages, buildings and scenery." It makes a change from the Cotswolds or Norfolk.
I think some of it is filmed in Warwickshire too.

Something to look forward to on dark evenings.

henetha, I wasn't expecting much having seen the trailers on TV.
So pleased I didn't allow them to put me off watching.

I really enjoyed this, but didn't have high expectations as I wasn't keen on the book. I'm looking forward to following it.

I missed it .
It certainly sounds like the sort of thing that appeals to me .

Its shot in Worfield and nearby Claverley and Bridgnorth in Shropshire. All my haunts. Beautiful part of the Country.

Enjoyed it, looking forward to next week's. That village looked so beautiful, apparently it's in Shropshire.

Can’t believe I missed it - thought it started next week and sat through a much watched Poirot instead!

I am glad to see Matthew Lewis back on the screen. Perhaps it's my age but there is a place for the more gentle thrillers.

I have read the Richard Cole books and thought this was a good story.

Not too sure about the casting, as is often the case, you get your own idea of what the characters look like.

Amanda Redman doesn’t fit my vision of the mother, or the chap playing the lord of the manor, but we shall see how it all progresses.
