The Ridge , Set in NZ North of Auckland is a great physiological drama .
Fills the screen with stunning scenery set in small town NZ & Scotland .
Though tbh it’s mostly NZ .
We binged all 6 episodes last night & is well worth watching 👌📺

Ooh thanks for the tip. You watched for 6 hours?!

I've had to give up on a Finnish Cop Show, on Walter Presents, too troubling.

Thanks for this recommendation NanaTuesday. I'll give it a try.

Recorded it, will be watching it this weekend.

I binged it all last night too. It didn't end as l had suspected which was good, some bits are rather nasty.

I've watched 3 episodes so far, yes it's good, I'll stick with it. I always enjoy seeing some of NZ, south island I believe.

Correction! Didn't read OP properly setting North of Auckland so North Island. Scenery in NZ, whether north or south always looks stunning.

Found it very slow going!!!

NotaGrannie Sun 26-Oct-25 13:40:29

Me too, I binge watched The Ridge, good drama.

I'm a fan of Lauren Lyle - believable characters

Also a fan of Jay Ryan - I remember him from years ago when he played Spider in the Australian TV series Sea Patrol.

😁 yes a new one on me .. perhaps lots of NZ hunks in it?
Think he OP meant PSYCHOLOGICAL ! 🥹

I’m watching it in episodes, I do find the NZ accent a bit difficult at times.
I’m also following Blood on Netflix, its stars Adrian Dunbar. It’s a similar theme to The Ridge.

Some people are very cutting, what’s wrong with the odd spelling mistake, we are all human

Peaseblossom Sun 26-Oct-25 14:06:32

Do you mean psychological?

vegansrock Sun 26-Oct-25 14:15:46

If you like psychological dramas The Five ( a Harlen Coben yarn) on Now is full of twists and turns. The Ridge is on my list.

Thanks for the tip. 20 years ago we nearly moved to just north of Auckland - still kicking ourselves that we didn't take the plunge. Will watch for the scenery if nothing else.

Liking The Ridge, but also love the Finnish drama (I presume you are referring to Bordertown)? Have been waiting for the 3rd series of this :-) although I have also watched all the other Finnish dramas - just really love Nordic noir and the French dramas too!

Lauren Lyle, what a great actress, watched her in Karen Pirie, loved it and again she was brilliant, I'm definitely a fan now.👏

I record most everything I watch on tv, so can fast forward nasty bits

Cath9 Sun 26-Oct-25 16:11:32

Thanks Nana, just put it on

Etoile2701 Sun 26-Oct-25 16:14:50

I watched one episode last week and will probably watch the rest on Iplayer.

Notagranny

Jay Ryan - I very much liked him in the Canadian series 'Mary Kills People' (2017)

Worth watching if you spot it.

Premise -

Mary is a Doctor who helps terminally ill people end their lives on their own terms. Jay Ryan plays a copy who comes to suspect her.

Recommended.

I put the subtitles on for most things! 😂

Watched barely half an episode and gave up on it, too many shots of morphine patches, or something being slapped on by her, flashbacks of past trauma and crazy behaviour by her generally.
I may have to now calm myself with a couple of episodes of Only Fools And Horses.

Oh dear, the most tedious thing ever. No worries.

Try a herbal tea.
