This was on last night. A very old series that I’ve never seen before. Just listening to it while I was pottering about doing other things I thought it was a Ken Burns documentary and I’m sure the format was copied by him. I think I’m going to have to watch this properly because it looked so interesting. I’d been watching the previous programme which was an old Man Alive programme about office parties which took me back to my youth to a time when everybody smoked at work, and the one before that was about people ‘living in sin’. Marjorie Proops ( remember her!) was featured. Both programmes made me realise how much things had changed in some ways and yet lessons from history haven’t been learned in others.

I’ve watched some of The Age of Uncertainty. Found it very interesting and like the way Kenneth Galbraith delivers it. As you say, it’s sad that some lessons never seem to be learnt.

Sounds very interesting! Thanks for the tip. I'll look for it on iPlayer.

So pleased you mentioned this, I thought it was fascinating.

So nice to hear the Queen's English. Everyone seemed to smoke and had awful teeth and looked as if they only had a bath once a week, which was perfectly normal.

I found it quite funny as well.

Also been watching the impressive JK Galbraith and Man Alive series.

Very interesting to look back and see the start of changes in Society and how and where some of our present day problems originated from.

Also pre Woke, Chattering Classes and the C4 and BBC politically correct bias

Also a good repeat series on BBC iplayer about Philosophers.

Do check out anything byb Bettany Hughes on C4 and C5.
If you get the chance. She is a real star on Ancient History and Archaeology .

Enjoy.
