Watched the first episode, very underwhelmed, won’t be bothering to watch again.

I was totally confused!!! I watch all my tv on recorded programmes, so when I saw it was a 'Lynley' I just expected it to be the characters I have always known. Had no idea they had remade this with new actors. Even backgrounds seem different. Havers, in original one was a Londoner (went to Ealing College), and her Dad was dead and her Mother causing her worries with increased dementia. New Havers, (much smarter in her appearance) is from Norfolk, with a dead Mum and a drunken father.
Wonder if Helen is going to appear in this new series? Her death in the original series was (for me) one of the harrowing scenes on tv drama. So unexpected.

Easy viewing, hopefully the new Lynley will grow into the part.

I loved Nathaniel Parker and Sharon(Susan) Small as Havers in the 2001 version.

I liked him well enough, but couldn’t stand her!
I know it was in the character, but IMO she very much overdid her ‘common’ accent.

I enjoyed it, thought the actor playing Lynley was a good fit for the part. However, Barbara Havers bore little resemblance to the character in the books. Far too pretty and wore decent clothes. But if you ignore the books she may well grow into the part.

We watched this ‘new’ version last night, and were decidedly underwhelmed.
Anyone else have thoughts on it?
