Paul Young at the BBC ( BBC2)

We saw Paul Young live one Christmas - it was one of the best shows ever.

Recorded it (especially for DD).

I remember we used to play this song in the car
"Everytime you go away, yeah
You take a piece of me with you, oh-oh"

and the DC used to say Yuk! Which bit has she taken this time?

My son thought it was “take a piece of meat with you”!

Our DC would be in the back of the car discussing which bit she'd taken. It could get quite gory!

I’ve just caught the end will watch on I player. But I’m now watching the following programmes. The 1980s music was a bit vague for me as it was child rearing decade so lost in Thomas the Tank engine era!

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for Paul Young and this programme took me right back… those were the days- well for me anyway. I was a young Mum and the radio was on constantly and I love the music of the late 70’s early 80’s.

Saw this last night, took me right back in time to when I was a single Mum. I played No Parlez constantly.

We saw him locally 2 years ago with his Behind the Lens Tour, with Jamie Moses. A nostalgic tour with chat and obviously song. I too find it hard to believe he is my age now. Actually 2 years younger than me!

Thoroughly enjoyed going down memory lane, his wife lived not far from here as was her parents shop.

Paul and his family were on the table next to us in a child friendly restaurant in London many years ago, such a lovely man and family (The Rainforest Cafe)

We went to see Paul Young at the old Wembley Arena, the day before my due date with DS4, hospital bag in the boot of the car, and a very concerned and nervous usher

‘Wherever I Lay My Hat’ was in the charts when we had a lovely, simple family holiday in Somerset.

We stayed in a cabin type place in a wooded area, it was a hot week, the children enjoyed it, just lots of playing outside, the beach,…..

It was nice to see the performances of his not so well known songs. Was surprised to find out that he was in the group behind the annoying ’Toast’ song!

I came across it during the evening, so recorded it and the other TOTP ones for future watching. Some of these artists are a bit younger than me, making me feel old as I approach 80.

He's older than I thought so can't have been that young when he became famous as a solo artist.
DD was a young teenager when he was a fan.

Paul Young and his family lived round the corner from us. Occasionally I saw him in Sainsbury’s, but everyone was very discreet and just smiled at him. It was sad when his wife died, then he met a new partner and moved away.
I always enjoyed his music.

Just watched it.

Always thought he was very attractive, still is!

I was an early Paul Young fan (before he discovered hair gel). I saw him several times in Streetband and Q-Tips and still have their vinyl albums. He had a great soul voice.

On the day I got married a friend had sent a request to radio 1 (Emporer Rosco) asking him to play a record for us. He chose "Toast". I was getting into my dress when it came on - not very romantic but it made me laugh

Realised I am old when a watch I won as a prize aged 11 was described as vintage.
