I agree the Todd/Theo relationship has been presented and acted well but like everything else on Corrie, it goes on too long.

Yes I admit that, thankfully, I have no experience of the situation Todd is in.
I an aware however how it can, sadly in some cases go on for years, but we are talking here about a soap storyline, where things usually progress at lightning speed!

I’m sure great care has been taken though to make Todd’s experience as true to life as possible.

We have already seen that in an episode in April, a body is discovered so speculation is mounting about the victim.

Totally agree Sarnia the Mal/Bernie story is weak and silly and nowhere close to normal life at all
I m afraid I don’t think the Will / Megan has been done very well either, important point to make but become very vague and muddled… is she ? isn’t she ? has he ? hasn’t he ? and a whole silly overdone area of bringing Sam into it.

Theo will not seem vile to Todd, Todd will believe he is causing the problems, he is the bad person, getting it all wrong and must do better It is psychologically a very difficult subject to portray to anyone who has never been involved

The storyline is being well done, and now George has seen it first hand it may be helpful to Todd in the end, although he may well see George as interfering and unhelpful to start with, but hopefully seeing it through someone’s else’s eyes may open his

Exactly this. People who have never experienced domestic abuse cannot understand why the victim stays and may possibly think it serves them right for not putting a stop to it.
Those of us on the receiving end know different.
Corrie comes in for a lot of criticism but they have handled this storyline very well indeed and shone a light on these types of relationships.
On the other hand, Corrie has gone down the ridiculous route with the Bernie/Mal plot.

Although it’s commendable that this subject of coercive control is being used as a major ongoing storyline in Corrie, I think it really is time now to bring it to whatever conclusion has been planned.

In my opinion it has dragged on too long and I now find I have completely lost patience with Todd.
How on earth can he still love the vile Theo?

I wasn't aware that Theo was divorced from his wife? I was hoping that Todd would say no.

I think that George, Christina and now Summer will keep a watchful eye on Todd. I agree withAveline that Theo may come out of it unscathed and Todd be imprisoned.

The whole registry office was grim. Dirty, cluttered and with peeling damp wallpaper. I've been to registry office weddings in lovely rooms with staff keeping the services very pleasant and dignified.

Poor Todd, his freedom from the vile Theo didn’t last long. Now they’re married George might be less likely to interfere.

I wondered if it’s possible the wedding ceremony was fake and the bumbling celebrant and his assistant were mates of Theo.

I’m finding Gary rather annoying. He was like an excited 6 yr old when told about the secret ceremony . Hopefully he’ll eventually suss what’s going on and wipe that scary grin from Theo’s face.

I’ve been wondering along those lines Calendeargirl. The celebrant/registrar not knowing what he was doing and the other one sat there filing her nails. Is it another of Theo’s to mess with Todd’s head .

I love that the jukebox in the Rovers Return can be relied upon to play something appropriate every time!

They made a thing about the registrar being new to the role, having worked in ‘housing’ previously.

Do you think there’s a chance that somewhere in the service, he messed up, leaving the ‘marriage’ not legal, a get out for Todd later on?

Do hope so, otherwise could it be annulled?

My worry is that it's poor Todd who will land there.

I know. ‘Todd’ is a very good actor. If anyone watched Stella, he was the ex-boyfriend of Luke’s girlfriend. He was a thug in that role - a very different one.

I hope something comes out about Billy’s death and that Theo is sent to the darkest dungeon in the land.

The Todd and Theo relationship is being portrayed very well Todd wants to believe Theo really loves him, he is fully invested in the relationship, he is not outside looking in like we are, hes totally caught like a fly in a spiders web
An abusive relationship is completely pull them in push them out it’s total control
The Megan stuff is far less realistic
As for Mel that’s very, very far fetched

I agree that the Todd storyline is believable and well written. He will want things to go back to how they were at the start. We know they won’t, of course, but Todd is living in hope.
