Well, I’ll reserve judgment until the first episode of the next series but not being a Nigella fan I don’t think I’ll be bothering with the GBBO. Non of the co-hosts can hold a light to Mary Berry!

It’s been confirmed that Nigella Lawson will take over from Prue.
👏👏👏

Doesn't seem to be any confirmation anywhere?

Caroline Waldegrave looks to be s front runner - I thought she was good but not sure she fits the role in terms of viewer expectations in the long term.

Apparently it’s been in The Sun according to UTube. I’m definitely not fond of Nigella so I doubt I’ll watch. To me she’s rather like marmite

Nigella named as a frontrunner by my newspaper this morning.

I think it's a good choice to have Nigella she going to bring some energy to a dull at times show.
Shame they can't loose Hollywood as well? Completely revamp the show.

Caroline Waldegrave was Prue’s business partner back in the day.
They produced an excellent cook book together which was my ‘go to’ for many years

Hopefull Nigella has stopped dipping her fingers into food then licking them followed by a big sigh when dressed in satin nightclothes. wink

I liked the lady who did some of the Celebrity episodes earlier in the year. I think she was called Caroline.

Don’t watch it so shouldn’t comment but isn’t Prue about 90 looking 70

Lollin Thu 22-Jan-26 08:51:37

It could become the battle of the eyelashes and handshake with both trying to outdo the other one in smouldering. Had almost stopped watching now I can’t see a reason to watch.

TerriBull Thu 22-Jan-26 08:48:02

I like Nigella, not that I disliked Prue. I forget to watch it must try to remember when she starts to present. I wish they'd do away with the Showcase section, impossibly difficult to construct exercises along the lines of the Leaning Tower of Pisa using 3 different types of cake. I prefer the simpler tasks such as a dozen uniform in size iced buns.

ginny Thu 22-Jan-26 08:44:08

Oh no! Can’t stand all her fluttering eyelash business.

aggie Thu 22-Jan-26 08:44:06

Oh yuck , i will all be sidelong glances and fluttering eyelashes sigh !

Agreed Jax - mentioned her to my daughter earlier!

Lorraine Pascale.

Umm, I did wonder if she would be too exacting.

She was certainly very demanding on 'Bake Off: the Professionals', but very good, IIRC, with children on Junior Bake Off in its early days.

Cherish Finden?

I think too professional for Bake Off. And after all her time on Professionals she'd be very intimidating. (Although I love her - my secret "Strictly" choice).

James Martin is an accomplished pastry chef.

So Prue has decided to stand down - suggestions for replacement?

If we're sticking with the male/female format I would go with either Delia or Nigella - though I doubt either of them would do it.

I expect Si King would be a popular choice. I'd love to see John Torode but he's not really known for his baking skills and probably too "chefy".
