WithNobsOnIt- yes- ''coarse& vulgar"- it could well be same woman.😆

I had filled out some stuff years ago for 'testing' for MENSA, for which i received a proof of membership- but i kept it hidden away, i certainly wouldnt be bragging it out in public on tv.One of my DD found it only a couple of yrs back & announced it to her siblings.I was taken aback, as i'd had it well hidden amongst my things..I dont know who was more shocked/surprised, her at discovering this,or me at knowing she must have been snooping?😁

I'm tempted to watch now to see this ambulance woman, as there were a team of 2 (attendant/driver) who took me on a couple of journeys hosp to hosp last year who, well one was quite 'common' & brash, shall we say? & was all done up in false eyelashes& makeup,I was surprised as i thought they werent allowed all that at work.🤔Maybe its her.

I gave it another go and for me it’s a dead duck, boring, nothing to it snd Alan Carrs voice does my head in

Ambulance crew contestant.
Several of you commented on her potty mouth
How bad was it? If it was that bad tgey crew would have done another take.
I didn’t see anyone needing smelling salts or clutching their pearls😱
Am I correct in assuming that those members who were highly offended have never watched 8 out of ten cats.
Susie Dent would have you fainting with the swear words she uses.
But then Susie is a highly educated woman who understands that it’s just a word.

Is Alan Carr going to be doing weather forecasts soon? He seems to be on every B-thing else?! And as some have said, his voice is wildly irritating.

We saw a trailer for it, not sufficiently enthused to actually try the full show, might have a look next time (Susie Dent is OK) if we can get over the major hurdle of remembering!

And we quite often see 1%club, I tend to struggle with the later questions, as after concentrating for a while, I'm ready to nod off! Lee Mack is - as folk have said - ideally suited to it.

Watered down version, often easier versions of MENSA intelligent tests.

I think quite a few of the contestants are not genuine and may even already be MENSA members.

No, no, no. C4 just rescued them from oblivionm

As usual lots of sob stories and diversity.

Watch the 1% Club. Full of everyday people and daft questions. Again very scripted, but funny and entertaining .

Lee Mack works very hard to keep the show rolling. Plus the prize.money is top

WithNobsOnIt Sun 08-Feb-26 19:02:53

Yes l agree

She was very coarse and vulgar

I hope she doesn't speak like that it work in front of would be patients.

Or she may have been coaxed and scripted by the production company to be like that.

Would make her more memorable.
That would be her schtick.

Haha, I thought exactly the same. All making out they are 'victims' and nobody 'understands' them, and being clever has blighted their lives. The restaurant owner, banging on about being a wife and a mother, as though she was some kind of heroine? But it seems to be the norm on shows now, to have to have a 'sob story'. And I said exactly the same about the ambulance driver, 'potty mouth'! Why would you embarrass yourself like that on TV? But I did enjoy it, as it shows how differently people can perceive the same task, and set about solving it, or not. Also, I like Alan Carr, and will probably watch all the series.

I thought it was ok-ish, no more.
Everybody has a sob story of victimhood now or classes themselves as ‘vulnerable’ in some way, it’s an epidemic 😷

Ambulance attendant, not driver.....

I must say I was taken aback by the language of the ambulance assistant!
I have only seen the first episode so far, I found it interesting.

I wanted to like it but struggled to do so. I found concentrating on certain participants more than others a little annoying, then wondered whether they ended up as the finalists. I'll stick to The 1% Club and Only Connect, I think.

its absolutely boring, full of sob stories, and mensa intelligence is not the same as common sense and learning, as for the ambulance attendant with the potty mouth , i wouldnt like her to attend to me

MollyNew Wed 04-Feb-26 12:57:26

I forgot about the first episode but watched the second. I enjoyed it very much, as did my OH. It shows how intelligence can be assessed on so many levels. I'm not too good at anagrams but I can solve visual puzzles more easily. The 1% Club has a similar range of questions which again tests all sorts of "intelligence".

DH also keen, but I suspect his IQ a little in advance of mine, at least when it comes to anagrams and mental arithmetic - I have other talents! 😀

BlueBelle Tue 03-Feb-26 17:37:39

Can’t stand Alan Carr, although I think he was good in The Traitors, but can’t bear his silly voice it irritates me, so I don’t watch him on the whole. I did see run ups to it and it didn’t pull me in so I m giving it a miss

Lovetopaint037 Tue 03-Feb-26 17:34:31

Have seen two episodes and I can’t get excited about it. Like Alan Carr but can’t get involved but dh quite likes it.
