With impeccable timing, a new series starts this evening on ITV. The story of SF’s assistant who murdered her boyfriend ( the assistants ) whilst in SF’s employ

Calendargirl Sun 22-Feb-26 20:29:03

I intend watching it.

Regards timing, a bit like last week’s documentary on Tony Blair, which featured a fair bit of Peter Mandelsen commenting on issues.

They had to put out a disclaimer, saying it was made before the latest revelations.

Perhaps they’ll do the same re SF?

Tuliptree Sun 22-Feb-26 20:46:50

Oh yes of course - it was interesting seeing him wasn’t it given what we now know. Wonder how SF will be portrayed

Cossy Sun 22-Feb-26 20:50:16

Really looking forward to this.

Excellent timing from the producers! 😂

The bit when she comes out from seeing the Queen and says ‘ she knew everything about what I’d been doing ‘ ( or words to that effect), it did rather beg the question didn’t it ?

Moonwatcher1904 Mon 23-Feb-26 01:01:02

I've watched it all earlier. It was very good and quite interesting. It was a shame how she was finished from royal job.

Exactly

SF was not exactly discreet about her liaisons though, was she ?

Neither was Andrew -there was just a conspiracy to cover it all up and look who his mum was

I have binged watched it, once I started I couldn’t stop. I thought it was an excellent drama, apparently made by the same company as The Crown.
There is a disclaimer that some of the scenes were fictional, for dramatic effect. However, I thought it certainly showed some insight into the privileged life led by some.
Jane was a rather sad character, used and exploited.

Watched first episode very good will be watching it again tonight. Positive watch.

That's what she likes to portray. I think her victim was more exploited by her and not here to tell his story or have a life poor man. Evil woman

Jane wasn’t in SF employ when she murdered her boyfriend.

The brother of the victim is a local hotel owner near where I live, (my daughter worked for him years ago).
He is very upset that after 25 years they are fictionalising his death for entertainment purposes. He said he has cooperated a number of times with documentaries about his brother and Jane Andrews but wasn’t involved in this.
Him and his family were giving a private viewing of all four episodes before transmission but it was deeply distressing.
He would have liked it if the programme showed more of what sort of man Tom Cressman was.
All very sad.

The actress playing Sarah Ferguson is much prettier imho.

Silvertwigs Mon 23-Feb-26 17:53:10

Tuliptree I agree with fab timing! I remember it well, I wonder if anything was ‘cooking’ then?

Silvertwigs Mon 23-Feb-26 17:54:45

Tuliptree Bingo! 🙄

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 23-Feb-26 17:55:18

I understand that Jane had a history of poor behaviours with previous partners, if she was rejected.

Silvertwigs Mon 23-Feb-26 17:57:18

Poppyred But haven’t they got the legs right! 🤣🤣

That must be very difficult for him.

Brilliant drama . Jane must be out of prison now and I guess living quietly somewhere. I'm going to binge watch again . Must be hard for Toms family.

Kathmaggie Mon 23-Feb-26 22:34:48

It’s all so sad. Wasn’t she diagnosed with mental health issues?

Yes she was, I felt that the parents were aware of her mental health issues. In the drama several times they seem to want her to return home.
It was truly a shocking crime which might have been prevented had the initial call to the police been acted upon.
When I said earlier that I felt she was exploited, I meant by those such as SF and some of the other men she met. I also felt sorry for her first husband who seemed to be supportive and try to get her help. Sad all round really.
