Laundering towels

I keep a special towel just for my GDs when they come for a sleepover as they complain mine are too rough! 😂

I have no idea whether my towels are rough or soft. I use an eco detergent in small uantities and dry outdoors or on a rack in the utility room. I have never owned a tumble dryer, although if I lived in a flat or had no utility room I probably would.

Oh dear - first I type my question into an entertainments forum and then I didn’t realise that this subject had already been covered just a few short weeks ago! Thanks everyone for your advice. I don’t really mind scratchy towels, but if guests come round, I prefer not to offer them a towel that’s as tough as a badger!

I don’t possess a tumble drier, mine are always stiff as boards, but I don’t mind.

Oooh! I love a scratchy towel……don’t feel ‘dry’ using a soft fluffy one.

I always dry towels in the tumble dryer! I don’t like them rough!

I finish mine in tumble after the line if possible, I do have a heat pump tumble which makes me feel better

I think we had this topic last month.
I think half line dried, then finished in the dryer. Heat pump doesn’t cost much to run.
I like mine a little rougher to get the circulation going ha.
If I had anyone staying would offer softer towels as not every one likes towels like sandpaper 😂

I'm no help! I've tried every recommended remedy under the sun but have come to the conclusion that only a tumble drier gets you soft towels. I gave up my drier after a fire scare and won't have another. I just shake the towels and when dry,give them a quick iron which softens them a little. I do prefer them a little rough, good for my skin but obviously no good for you.

I don’t have or want a tumble dryer so my towels are always line dried unless it’s actually raining. No softener in the wash and give a good shake before and after they go on the line. Having said that I don’t like those very soft towels rougher towels dry me much better but each to their own.

I line dry them , then into the tumble dryer with a damp bamboo kitchen towel if they are too dry, for 10 minutes, and they come out soft.

I was recently asking the same question and got similar replies. My towels were so rough that I could only pat myself dry and my skin is really prone to irritation. I tried adding vinegar but that didn’t appear to help. Drying them outside but not in too much sun seemed to help. Drying then partly indoors was another thing I tried.

Put them in the tumble dryer for two minutes tops or buy cheaper towels 🤣mine are fine off the line but then they are from BandM 🤣🤣🤣

Well here I am ¾ hour later...
I like crunchier towels so just shake them but you can soften them as you would do to silk by flicking/cracking them really hard (like a whip) a few times.

Some people pop them in the dryer at the end for a couple of minutes to bash them about a bit.
Don't suppose it would even need heat at that point.
