Finding it quite gripping, will be watching second one tonight. As always, some improbable bits, but Joanna Scanlon is always good. Interesting to see Robert Lindsay too!

Did you notice she wore that green top for about 3 days?

Haha she did have a very small suitcase!

Just finished it. Really enjoyed it if you simply put some of the implausible things to the back of your mind!

Good acting, couple of good twists.

Just about to start “text me when you get home” But I think it’s a real life thingie rather than a drama?

Given up already on “text when you’re in the way home” or whatever it’s called, it came up on my list of what to watch.

Can anyone recommend what I should watch next please?

I thought it was interesting but really did find Scanlon's acting on this occasion quite wooden. It irked me in every scene.

I got very annoyed at the lack of responsibility shown by the teacher in charge
I wonder if they did any risk assessments?
Might watch the rest tonight

Having been the teacher who organised and accompanied French exchanges, I know how fraught they can be.
Why on earth didn't the host parents get in touch with the teachers? The girl would have been accompanied back to England immediately, at her parents' expense.
We used to require parents to sign an undertskibg that they would reimburse the school if their child "brought the enchange into disrepute" and had to be brought home.. It did happen once on my watch. One of our pupils had been out all night and the host parents, correctly, declined to be responsible for his/her safety. The child was taken home the next day.

There isn't a single TV drama without holes in the plot. I just think we've got really good at spotting them due to age and experience. I remember watching things in years gone by and accepting the storylines without question! Now I find myself asking 'why did she do that when she could have done this?' or spotting impossibilities all over the place. I try really hard not to do this though.

I could have written that word for word. 😂

I am enjoying the series but find it irksome that all the French people involved speak perfect English, including the host's daughter Emma. I would have preferred subtitles.

just about managing to stay awake. 😴😴

I agree, fancyflowers. Everyone speaking impeccable English is pretty unlikely.

Only watched first episode so far . I love anything showing the French countryside as we're too old to travel now . (Sigh ! )

I agree. We are too old (and poor!) to travel now too. I really miss France!

Have watched it all and, although it started very promisingly, I think it just got silly towards the end.

I agree.

Glad it wasn't just me!

Retroladytyping Thu 16-Apr-26 11:18:54

Yes I noticed the green top was being worn for quite a few days too! I guess she wouldn't have bothered with packing more than a cabin bag and in a rush as well.

Clawdy Thu 16-Apr-26 11:53:30

As said above, very unlikely only one teacher would accompany a school exchange trip. Think four episodes would have been better than five too. Will watch till the end though!

JenniferEccles Thu 16-Apr-26 22:57:56

It’s now getting sillier and sillier, in my opinion anyway.
These Channel 5 dramas always seem to follow a similar format in that they start off reasonably promising but then they tend to go downhill as the story unfolds.

We both think it’s gone on for too long. It won’t stop us watching tomorrow though when it has to speed up to get to the end.

Totally agree. It's certainly not putting the French police in a good light either. As if any of this would happen.

The mother is extremely unlikeable as well. I reached the point of not caring what happened to Katy by the second episode.

However I have stuck with it and shall see the end. I'm a sucker for punishment.

Some of the scenes reminds me of a Scooby Doo episode.

Aldom Fri 17-Apr-26 06:21:52

Lovely scenery but not a convincing storyline.
Poor portrayal of a mother who was supposed to be searching for her missing child.
I've watched it all but disappointed after the first episode.

BlueBelle Fri 17-Apr-26 06:26:48

I ve lost it I m afraid, i will watch the last episode tonight but it’s really gone off my interest now
It started well but downhill all the way everything about it is so unlikely, the boyfriend getting killed was a ridiculous scene then his wife just turns up out of nowhere. The mother wandering around playing detective, moving hotels to the police woman’s house …as if!
It’s all a bit Alice in Wonderland
Very disappointing

GrannyMary1 Fri 17-Apr-26 07:13:22

Totally agree. We started watching missed call on channel 5 last night. ( on the channel 5 catch up app) Not bad but our main thoughts were, isn’t it amazing that the entire village seems to speak English! The poor mum doesn’t have to even say bonjour. Even the local drug dealer speaks English! Amazing. No point in learning French when clearly everyone in France speaks English!
We are both languages teachers and we find it so frustrating that some Brits just don’t bother learning languages or ever trying the odd Bonjour or Hola.

Allsorts Fri 17-Apr-26 07:27:34

Started off well and will watch the last episode tonight but its got sillier. Joanne a good actor but I think her portrayal of a worried mother unconvincing, she’s rude, abrupt and wouldn't have her stay at my house. Good job she was in a convenient location in France only a couple of hours door to door, where almost no French is spoken

Calendargirl Fri 17-Apr-26 07:33:22

I’m with the rest of you, watching night by night, but the usual overwrought Channel 5 drama.

Joanna Scanlan was totally miscast as the mother, seemed unfazed most of the time about her missing daughter, waddling about getting in everyone’s way during the searches, sticking her nose into everything.

Rupert Graves also unlikely as her lover, don’t think plump little Sarah would have been a target for his wandering eye.
