Watched this documentary last night,it’s a true story of a group of Scottish workers fighting fascism from half way across the world.
They grounded half of Pinochets air force for over 4 years
It’s a story I,d forgottenthough I knew people who worked in the factory in East Kilbride
I can’t see anyone willing to take the risks these people took in these troubled times .
If you,ve an hour and a half to spare it’s well worth a watch

My late husband was one of the Rolls Royce workers involved. He was a fitter at the time and his department repaired and serviced Rolls Royce aeroplane engines from across the world. Their leaders, the union men, were inspirational. Ordinary working men who knew right from wrong.

We went to see the film in Edinburgh when it came out, he found it very moving. I now have it saved on my Sky box.

Certainly worth a watch.

Thank You paddy. A bit like the Manchester mill workers who boycotted slave -grown cotton. Inspiring people.

The Grapefruit Women from Dublin who refused to sell South African fruit as a protest against apartheid also spring to mind.

Thanks Grannmarie. Found it last night. Told some friends. Powerful, magnificent, chilling.
Proud of what ordinary folk can do.
Glad they got the honour they deserved.
