Little House on the Prairie - Netflix

An enjoyable light murder mystery series on Netflix is ‘Summer 36’ it’s French but dubbed.Set in the South of France at a posh hotel where the wealthy congregate, but also the poor come to town for the beach, and they stay in a boarding house.
Their two worlds collide, there are murders and it’s all very Agatha Christie.Lovely period detail and with a hint at what’s coming down the line from the Germans.

We'll see. I have been watching re runs of Lottle House and The Waltons on Great TV channel . Still love them.

Well ... its different ... Pa plays an awful lot of tunes and they do lots of dancing ..and they do keep kissing which annoyed me , they are acting like teenagers ... it wasn't for me ..

I don't think I shall watch it because it could never live up to the original. Michael Landon was my teenage crush. I loved him in Little House and as Little Joe in Bonanza.

Never saw the original but it sounds a bit saccharine to me.

Yes it certainly was but I loved it as a kid.

The books are not sacharine or sentimental. I don't think the original series did them justice.
I don't think you could televise Ma's feelings about the Native Americans without making her an unsympathetic character.
The books are fascinating, very readable.

I will try. I read the books recently and loved them. I remember the original TV version. But I was not a great fan.

Hubby is a big fan of the original, so we have been watching the current reruns.

We started watching the new version of All Creatures and did not like it at first, but now prefer it. Mrs Hall is more of a central character.

It will be interesting to see how they deal with the indigenous people bits. I bought a boxed set of all the books to read out loud to my DGD - I had to do quite a bit of editing!

Only watched the first episode, beautifully filmed, gorgeous soft golden light, bit like a 'Hallmark Movie' - very soothing. The little girls, the landscape, the dog!
Just my cup of tea, I've fallen for it.

Suzieque66 I thoroughly agree. I think 1883 is one of the best programmes I've ever seen. I've watched it twice and may well watch it again. Another good programme is Primeval, about a woman with her son travelling across the wild west. It's brilliant, very savage in places.

The remake of 'A Woman of Substance' was atrocious. I watched the first episode and gave up. Made to allow for all of he woke agendas including a midget brother. WHAT??!!!!

Whatever could have led Brenda Blethyn to get involved with such dross?

P.S. I was probably totally spoiled as just a few months before I had watched the original series with Deborah Kerr, Liam Neeson and Jenny Seagrove - absolutely fabulous.

I appreciate you not liking the programme your prerogative but calling someone with dwarfism a midget is very offensive

I believe in keeping an open mind. If I didn’t I would have missed out on a lot of things.
I have enjoyed this remake and am looking forward to series 2.

I loved Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books but the series on television years ago was just a soap opera, using little more than the family’s names and adding loads of fiction to what was a true account of their lives.
I expect the new version is the same.

I have watched all the Taylor Sheridan series, 1883, 1923, Yellowstone. Now Marshals and the new one with Rip and Beth. All great shows. Some on Netflix and most on Paramount+.

Definitely for adults but it reminds me of Wagon Train, beloved of my teenage years in the sixties.

I liked it but what a misery fest. 😫😫

Just watched the first Little House on the Prairie, on Netflix.
It took me a little while to release "John Boy" wasn't in it, wrong series.
After watching it I don't remember seeing this series first time around. Think it might be a "dip in and out" series for me.
