Another of the oldies has gone. I liked the character Jill Archer. I wonder who looks after the bees these days?

RIP Patricia Greene

I haven’t listened to the Archers since someone jumped off a roof and killed himself. Can’t even remember his name, but I can still hear both Phil and Jill’s voices in my head! And Walter
Gabriel!

So sorry to hear that... As Jill she was the "glue" in the Archers family over many years.
Patricia Greene RIP.

I don't think Jill Archer has been heard on the Archers for some time but she does get referred to when someone is eating her lemon drizzle cake!

Patricia Greene kept going till the end though, despite suffering from Macular Degeneration, she'd turn up in her wheelchair to record her scenes.

I listened to it as a child with my Mum and dipped in and out over the years. It gets silly at times but gives me something to listen to in the bath!

I'm sorry to hear that.

I used to be a regular Archers listener, since childhood, but later thought it all got a bit silly so haven't bothered. I was amazed that 'Jill' lasted for such a long time but she was a lovely character.

RIP Patricia Green

My DM adored the Archers and now you’ve made the theme tune dance through my head.

RIP PG thanks

Patricia Greene played Jill Archer fom 1957 died today. She has the record of being the longest performing soap actress I understand
.

As a listener to The Archers since it began, I must almost qualify as the oldest fan! It is just a habit that keeps me happy, it annoys and frustrates at times but I just carry on listening, why I know not!
