I can’t imagine many people discuss their sex life with their grandparents ….of course they don’t Doodledog and of course young people don’t watch Corrie either, but I can’t tell you how many comments I ve read on social media where adults, parents and grandparents had no idea that this was a practice amongst some young people. If it’s going to open their eyes and perhaps Initiate some conversation around this and other sexual practices then I think it would’ve done a good job, don’t you?

As an only child in the 40's/50's I was blissfully ignorant of anything sexual. I was around 14 and mid way through Grammar School when I found out that babies were not born via the belly button. It had always seemed the most obvious place to me.
Sadly, teens these days are almost forced to grow up far too quickly and are exposed to some pretty worrying social media sites. And they call it progress.

Absolutely, if people were unaware, and it leads to such conversations it would be a good thing. I haven't said otherwise. My point is just that awareness amongst young people might be better served by using programmes they actually watch.

Also, there has been concern about strangulation for some time - I believe there has been a change in the law to stop claims that behaviour was consensual being a defence. Non-fatal strangulation is now an offence if someone is hurt, too. If a grandparent is unaware of that, the chances of a grandchild feeling able to discuss such matters with them is probably small. Even more 'clued up' or streetwise grandparents are probably not a young person's first choice of confidante when it comes to their sex life - it was ever thus, surely?

All that aside, it's an interesting storyline, and they don't all have to be aired for a 'good cause'. As you say, if it saves even one person, it's a good thing, and maybe the storyline will arouse curiosity and more young people will watch to find out more.

It's enough for me that regular Corrie viewers even know that this practice is a thing.

No idea when Lauren ever looks after Frankie herself, as she alternates between the pub and visiting Betsy in hospital.

Lauren would never have kept a job with an attitude like hers. And haven’t any of the Corrie lot twigged yet that their lives would be so much easier if they just stopped covering everything up!?

Why is it that the script writers are so poor ? Are they paid a pittance if at all? The stories are entirely about police stations, courts, hospitals and murders. It's getting tedious and they drag the story lines on for far too long. I'm feeling quite annoyed with myself for bothering to watch these days. Is it just me?

I agree, none of the scriptwriters has a sense of humour. We need more one-liners as happened years ago. I agree, everything drags on for so long I get bored.

I still find funny one liners scattered around. At present life's pretty serious down Coronation Street. You lot would be the first to complain if inappropriate light-heartedness appeared.
Betsy's story is interesting and worth highlighting. Theo's murder has gone on long enough. Less is more with Psycho Jodie.
Watch/don't watch it's up to you. I'm sticking with it.

I understand her defending Betsy and attacking Dylan after Joel abused her. Frankie will be in the childcare cupboard where Harry has spent the first 10+ years of his life. It's only now Sarah is facing prison that she decides she has to look after him.

I think it's just her communication style.

Life has been hard for Lauren. Can you remember her awful Dad and Joel? She has mentally put a protective wall around herself, especially where men are concerned. She won't let herself be treated like that again. That's why she seems sullen and brusque. Self preservation.

I understand why Lauren is so defensive all the time, but she wasn't initially when she first came back into it. It's only since she started working in the pub she has become rude.

It has to keep Maggie, Eva, her DH whose name escapes me, Ollie, Will, Susie, then they employ Glenda, Sean, Gemma, Lauren….is that it?

Plus every other drink is ‘on the house’ for whatever latest catastrophe has affected one of the customers.
