Just watched the first episode on iPlayer, oh dear, what is our licence money being spent on?

Nandalot Thu 23-Jul-26 19:30:50

It’s dreadful isn’t it? I tried watching it last night when suffering from my usual insomnia. I can’t say it helped. I only get sleepy when it’s something I want to watch!

AGAA4 Thu 23-Jul-26 19:54:44

I gave up on it after about 20 minutes.

Primrose53 Thu 23-Jul-26 21:19:50

Who’s in it?

JenniRen Thu 23-Jul-26 22:00:49

Sally Phillips apparently, and she is usually very good. Perhaps she's wasted in this although I haven't watched it yet.

sodapop Fri 24-Jul-26 09:01:47

Truly appalling, I gave up after 20 minutes as well.

Mintymanda Fri 24-Jul-26 22:18:00

I was excited to watch it as I live near to Alcester where it was filmed. Also Sally Phillips is consistently good - from Smack the Pony to Bridget Jones - even her recent performance on Taskmaster was hilariously brilliant .
What a disappointment! This programme is an awful dud. The script is cliche- driven and unfunny. The story is utterly predictable. The acting is terrible. This is the worst attempt at a cosy mystery series I’ve ever seen. Good grief.

I didn’t watch it, but read the preview and that was enough for me - I knew it would not be my cup of tea. Sounds like I was probably right.

GreyKnitter Fri 24-Jul-26 22:38:11

We watched the first episode. It was terrible! Def won’t be watching again.

I started to watch it,, praps 10-15 mins...BBC is a waste of space

Notagranny44 Sat 25-Jul-26 13:43:13

I felt the same - watched about 10 minutes and then gave up! However, the BBC is NOT a waste of space imho - Ann Droid was wonderful - hilarious and most enjoyable - I loved it!

Formulaic afternoon TV stuff

Patrice53 Sat 25-Jul-26 13:59:53

Charlotte jordan who played Daisy in coronation street is in this programme. I really liked her as Daisy and thought she was the best young actor on the soap but the hairdresser mysteries is dreadful. I can't understand how Charlotte could leave Corrie and go into this.

grandMattie Sat 25-Jul-26 14:16:33

I expected it to be lightweight but goodness!
I shan’t bother with the next episodes.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 25-Jul-26 14:17:58

I thought it might be worth a watch, but reading these pists I won’t bother.

HappyAmI Sat 25-Jul-26 15:19:35

I’d been really looking forward to this but gave up after 10 mins.
Absolutely dire.

Grandmotherto8 Sat 25-Jul-26 15:29:46

The funding for this series came from the money saved by axeing Doctors, the lunchtime medical series.

grannybuy Sat 25-Jul-26 16:52:20

There aretoo many dramas about murder/mysteries being
‘ solved ‘ by amateurs. I haven’t watched this one, so don’t know if it’s one of ‘them’, but it sounds like it. Another one about to begin - Benidorm is Murder. They lack credibility.

Aveline Sat 25-Jul-26 18:07:50

I've gone back to the first series of Endeavour on ITVX. Oh boy it's good. Clever stuff with great casting and period detail. It's lucky I can't remember the stories as I must have watched them the first time round.

StoneofDestiny Sat 25-Jul-26 21:41:26

Chronic TV - we can d9 so much better than this tripe

Betony Sun 26-Jul-26 08:59:20

'I only get sleepy when it’s something I want to watch!

Thanks for posting this, Nandalot. I have exactly the same problem. Can't tell you how many programmes I've only half seen/heard, unless I want to find them again on catchup. Can any Grans up on psychiatry explain to me why this happens?

granfromafar Sat 01-Aug-26 13:56:16

Although I had read the above reviews and thought 'won't bother', I happened to catch 10 minutes of this yesterday while waiting for Countdown to begin. The reviews were right!

kazgran Sun 02-Aug-26 15:35:23

Absolute rubbish. I switched it off after 10 minutes

Parsley3 Sun 02-Aug-26 19:27:49

Call me shallow but I have watched all of them now. It is just the ticket when I need a shot of mindless drivel with a generous helping of poor acting and false moustaches. I doubt that there will be another series if I am the only viewer.

MollyNew Mon 03-Aug-26 13:44:01

Parsley3 I'm the second viewer! Yes, you can spot the victim in the first two or three minutes, some of the acting is poor and the stories are thin but the music is great, Sally Philips is a star and it's easy to watch, escapist fun.
