Didn't she play Auntie Joan in Doc Martin?

Maremia Fri 18-Sept-26 16:09:13

And she was one of the Greats in Tenko.

Loved her in ‘waiting for God’

Aww she was brilliant as Mrs Featherstone in Open All Hours.

Grandmabatty Fri 18-Sept-26 16:17:51

I really liked her. Sadly missed

I loved Waiting for God, too. I didn’t watch Tenko because I don’t like the subject, although I was at school with Ann Bell who played Marion Jefferson. (I think that was the name,)

Poppyred Fri 18-Sept-26 16:24:42

She was 84, so a good age.

Oh dear. I am feeling a bit tearful already today and this is sad.
I can hear her voice in my head in Cabin Pressure on radio 4.
Some wonderful actresses this year.

Sorry to hear that. My first memory was her role in Tenko, but she was really good in all the other programs mentioned.

As I gallop towards my 80s I don't consider 84 to be a "good age"!

Not looking for an arguement but what do you consider is to be please?

I loved her in Tenko. Feel sad all these landmarks are going, series I loved with fine actors and scripts.

Same here JenniRen it's a worry.

I loved Stephanie Cole in Tenko and Open All Hours, brilliant actress. RIP.

I'm 84 too. You Poppyred are clearly much younger judging by that remark.

I saw her at Bath in The Rivals. Unfortunately I had a very loud choking fit when I swallowed some water the wrong way and she - as Mrs Malaprop - gave me the benefit of an 18th century glare! I think she was a marvellous and very versatile actress. I remember her in Tenko and Waiting For God and A Bit of a Do.
