Little Women; film

I’ve just watched the Greta Gerwig film adaptation of Little Women. Bought the dvd ages ago but have only just got round to seeing it and I didn’t really like it. But when I read up on the reviews it was highly praised. Am I missing something? Did anyone else like or dislike it? I don’t think I particularly liked Ladybird either and that was critically acclaimed too. Maybe it’s just me confused?

Bluecat

I didn’t like the latest version of Little Women but I did like the one with Winona Ryder as Jo and Claire Danes as Beth. When we saw it at the cinema, my daughter and I cried when Beth died and even my husband had tears in his eyes.

I’d like to see that one. In my mind it was only made a few years ago but it must be quite old!

…over thirty years. How can that be shock!

My son took me out for lunch and then to see it as a birthday treat just after it was released. For that reason I won't hate it but it really was very disappointing, although I didn't tell him that. He quite enjoyed it but then again he's never read the books or seen any other version so had nothing with which to compare it.
I too much preferred the Winona Ryder version.

I’ve just seen a trailer for Gerwigs adaptation of Narnia and I think she’s taken all the magic out of it. I hope I’m wrong, though…
