Namsnanny my daughter, just 40 and her friends watched and are watching it.

I bet you are wishing you had never come onto this thread!

It's turned into a discussion about your tv licence.

watermeadow says she has a TV licence but no TV so should be able to watch live TV on her laptop, not just the next day on iPlayer.

watermeadow has a licence. Why do people always leap to accusation?

You still need a licence to watch anything from the BBC even if it's not on on a TV set but I guess everyone knows that!

I love Gogglebox too. It's so reassuring to see others like me watching TV through their fingers and just having a laugh.

Yay! So do I, always good for a laugh

Apparently the final episode of the last CT, featuring Alan Carr, had 14.9 million viewers. The highest for that year. As tv figures seem to be getting lower and they say mainly older people watch, this must be good news for BBC?
I wonder if under 40s are a significant percentage of the audience?

My daughter is in her 40s, and told me she started watching it, so she could relate to office chat amongst the 20-somethings in her team! Now she's hooked, and told me to watch it. 😊

You can watch iPlayer live on your iPad, I do it all the time. You can also wait until the programme finishes and watch it from the beginning on iPlayer, you don’t have to wait until the next day - unless you want to, obviously.

Why don't you watch when broadcast or record it then and watch when you want?

I watch Traitors on iPlayer and yes, I have got a licence and I resent not being able to watch until after the broadcast, which means next day.

I like Gogglebox ordinary (wildly different!!) people and opinions!
I rejected it for years as "obviously rubbish" but my daughter "made" me watch it and now I really look forward to it.

Very funny, often topical, light entertainment that I can't believe is so very good!

I must be the only person who hasn’t watched any of the Traitors/Celebrity Traitors.

It just never appealed somehow.

I realise I may be missing out.

Never, ever watched Big Brother, I’m A Celebrity…, Gogglebox,….

That's the prize money not their appearance money. Each will have a separate contract.

About £30,000 to £40,000 each even if they get eliminated early.

The money is for charities of their choosing.

No. We only see what the editors decide to show us.
I expect there's a great difference in the payments to each of them too. The may be looking for value for money from the most expensive hires.
Cynical? Moi? Nah. It's a business.

Fallingstar

Forgot Michael Sheen was there 🫣
Yes he is keeping quiet, very quiet. Probs trying not to draw attention to himself.
Miranda seems unusually quiet too but probs trying to do the same.
Am hoping they will engage a bit more as the show goes on.

Ah yes. I'd forgotten Miranda. It does rather look as though some contestants are staying under the radar deliberately. Clever tactics?

I read that Jerry was advised not to take part by her children, due to her age and the physical nature of some of the tasks. Apparently she was eager to challenge herself, so good for her!

Ha ha! Oh yes.

Or might have one herself?

Yes but that was Oreo's suggestion.

watermeadow was perhaps watching it with someone else who does have one.

Oreo

MawsRosie

I have no television and don’t watch films so don’t know who most of the contestants are. It doesn’t make any difference to my enjoyment of the game but apparently most of them know each other, which may affect how they play.

How do you come to be watching Traitors then?

On iPad, iPlayer?

Don’t you need a TV licence for that?

Aveline

Eek Trump! Golden opportunity with all those pillows though...

🤣🤣🤣
