Anyone up for a 'Traitors thread'?

JenniRen Sat 31-Oct-26 11:55:59

One thing that puzzled me was how the Faithfuls never notice that the Traitors do not actually leave the castle and go up to the Turret to do their plotting.

Apparently, they are all driven away in separate cars, a 45 minute journey to their hotel, then the Traitors are driven back to the castle. That means the days must be very long, especially for the Traitors.

Maremia

Are there some uncharitable thoughts about the chosen charities?

Perish the thought grin

Roll on the next series

Red lipstick doesn’t suit Claudia🤔

Retread

James B. is an open book and was clearly completely thrown by Romesh accusing him. He looked stricken!

I'm very happy that Faithfuls won.

He really did look genuinely upset didn’t he? A very tense hail biting ending to the series.

I agree about James Blunt, I have admired him for many years (also really like his music). He wanted the youngsters to have the helicopter experience.

I knew the minute he voted for a further banishment that he was going to be voted out.

I was happy with the final three, liked them all.

I think James A played a good game up until his last round table when he found it difficult to lie, well done him 👏👏👏

Is it just me wondering if Maya”s gillet is made of tripe?

😂I knew it reminded me of something

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 31-Oct-26 11:41:09

Maya”s parting.shot “Good luck. You’re going to need it” was a mean giveaway.

Poor Blunty - one of my favourites, very self deprecating. He looked shell shocked when his name was put forward at that Round Table. I think he’s very kind. Look how he stepped back from the opportunity to have the helicopter ride and how much Bash got out of the experience! Medal 🥉

And I don’t think someone like James A should be barred from taking part due to his MH issues, he is probably pretty robust and able to cope with most ordinary everyday problems and thought that the show would not get to him quite so much.

These are not everyday problems though. Someone who might have a more vivid imagination or be very sensitive might find it difficult to detach themselves and feel upset they are 'murdering' those they have become close to, even though it is metaphorical. Being in the castle and grounds must be like entering a different world. For the actors, though, it could be like being on a film set.

Going back to their lodgings alone at night, it could all prey on someone's mind. Didn't Leigh-Anne say she hadn't slept and she seems strong? James was clearly struggling.

No, he shouldn't have been banned but perhaps not on the list of contenders in the first place. I hope he's ok now.

I agree with you as the ending was a bit meh really.

I work for a charity and would have loved the money to have gone to a children's cancer charity.

Michael Sheen supported Tŷ Hafan which is a children's hospice. I agree that would have been very welcome and I was in Team Michael too! Disappointing.

BlueBelle Sat 31-Oct-26 11:29:02

Fallingstar there are shows and shows and to take part is such a highly emotional show, with pretend murders, back stabbing, ghouls and ghosties, coffins and dark hiding places is ridiculous if the man has panic attacks. Why they allowed it I ll never understand of course I m sure for him the £40,000 fee would have beckoned him in but he should have been medically barred
I don’t watch it but I read he had a panic attack on a cookery programme 🤷🏼‍♀️
He spoilt it completely for Amol Raman who would have made an excellent player and that makes me a bit cross So yes he did compromise the show nothing against him personally, never heard of him before, seems a nice enough man, but very wrong to go into that show and be allowed to compromise it.

They don't tell viewers what the charities are beforehand but it's not based on viewer voting so I don't know why. There has been controversy around the choice of winning charities, as it's a coincidence that they are both refugee based.

AI says:
The contestants competed for a wide variety of organizations. Winners Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft played for the Refugee Council and Choose Love, while other participants supported causes such as The Louis Dundas Centre (Amol Rajan), Bamboozle Theatre Company (Bella Ramsey), Friends of the Earth (James Acaster), Blue Marine Foundation (James Blunt), The King's Trust (Jerry Hall), UNICEF (Joanne McNally), and Tamworth Wellbeing and Cancer Support Centre (Joe Lycett).
Additional participating celebrities and their charities included Julie Hesmondhalgh (Reubens' Retreat), King Kenny (Rethink Mental Illness), Leigh-Anne Pinnock (British Red Cross), Maya Jama (Action for Children), Michael Sheen (Tŷ Hafan), Miranda Hart (Astriid), Myha'la (The Food Foundation), Professor Hannah Fry (Alzheimer's Society), Richard E. Grant (Longfield Community Hospice), Rob Beckett (Matt Palmer Trust), Ross Kemp (Haemophilia Society), and Sharon Rooney (Robin House Children's Hospice).

Was a young man on the news this morning talking about his time as a traitor on the show a while back, he was saying he fully understood how upset James A was and how he had also struggled. I don’t think is unreasonable for a person to find such an intensive and immersive game stressful and for emotions to become heightened, indeed I think the producers go to great pains to make sure the tension is ratcheted up.
Hence James B struggling at the end and others having a bit of a wobble from time to time.
And I don’t think someone like James A should be barred from taking part due to his MH issues, he is probably pretty robust and able to cope with most ordinary everyday problems and thought that the show would not get to him quite so much. And well done him for getting so far and realising his own limitations.
I don’t think the game was compromised in any way, in fact it made the headlines due to his creating an unexpected twist.

Such a Traitor thing to do. 😃

Yes, the final thrust of the dagger, getting his own back on Maya for recruiting him.

JenniRen Sat 31-Oct-26 10:58:50

Yes, he looked truly distraught.

Poor Blunty. To give him his due though, he stayed consistently wrong to the bitter end.

Bless his cotton socks! I thought he was going to cry! 💔💔

Indeed, Romesh is on a lot of things. Other comedians even joke about it, for example on Mock the Week.
I thought the last two episodes brightened up an otherwise fairly mundane series.
I feel sad that James A is getting such a lot of flack. He looked so ill at his last round table. I think he would have been fine if he could have stayed as a faithful. He really did not want to lie. It is a pity that he was put in that position.

No, James A did not want to become a Traitor but he knew that would be a possibility, he knew exactly what arena he was entering. Someone so fragile should have been strongly advised not to contemplate joining such a stressful programme. Presumably they have health checks first?

When he left he could in fact have taken full responsibility for the murder in plain sight in the library. Instead he left with a finger pointing at Maya.

Maremia Sat 31-Oct-26 10:40:58

Are we told in advance what the charities are?

Surely not, Fallingstar.

Fallingstar Sat 31-Oct-26 10:18:58

I think Romesh is just a very successful comedian, hadn’t even really noticed which channel he tends to be on.
Not sure why this is causing a problem.
He was pretty popular on this thread until his named charity was for refugees, surely it can’t be that 🙄
