Anyone up for a 'Traitors thread'?

Fallingstar Sat 10-Oct-26 13:47:33

I think Maya will win it because she flies so elegantly below the radar.
Anyone who talks too much or suggests who might be a traitor seems to be suspected.

I am getting rather Victorian about this.
I don't care for the gothic overload, installing people in coffins, burying people, 'murdering' people, and encouraging people to lie to win the game.
Obviously, this is my first time of watching; I only watched to see Richard E Grant as I recently read his book about his wife's death and wasn't altogether sure about it, (say no more); he (unpredictably or intentionally?)is no longer with the programme.
Several more intelligent friends have become addicted through watching it with their teenage grandchildren so I am giving it a try, but so far it seems rather, well, teenage.
(retires behind the sofa.)

I agree, it is a bit light, teenager, fluffy - but speaking for myself, it's just what I need at the moment. There's so much heavy drama around.

Fallingstar Sat 10-Oct-26 13:57:18

I think it can be silly but am still watching.

I’m a first time watcher and already hooked on the strategy even if I am finding some of the contestants dim.

The development of the game is interesting, based on psychological theory about how an informed minority (the Mafia) could use deception and coordinated strategy to completely manipulate and overpower an uninformed majority (the innocent Citizens). Like modern day politics in many respects!

The game was re-themed based on werewolves and citizens hence the night and day phases. Perfect Halloween season viewing in a way.

It is also based on the 17C shipwreck, the Dutch Batavia hence that shipwreck mission which freaked out poor Ross when Bella put the captain’s hat on his head.

I’ve done a complete about turn from wanting Jerry gone for being such a wimp in the first challenge to hoping she’ll keep hanging on because she’s so entertaining. Perhaps all this wandering about as though she hasn’t a clue what’s going on around her, blurting out whatever nonsense comes into her head, is just a ploy, and she’ll end up winning.

Our individual responses to participants are interesting - James Blunt entertains me, others find him irritating. Maggie finds Jerry entertaining, she annoys the living daylights out of me! 😃

I watched last night's episode after lunch today and it made me laugh out loud. It's sufficiently bonkers that it's fun and an effective antidote to the news. Maya is very clever but poor James and Hannah are clearly so uncomfortable in their roles I think they need to go and be replaced with people who relish being traitors. These celebs are all a bit too squeaky clean and nice, actually I think Miranda would be good as I think she's got hidden depths and I want to see more of the humour, she's a bit serious ATM. Joe Lycett would be a fun traitor too. Who would you choose?

MartavTaurus Sat 10-Oct-26 15:15:53

It's the dim ones we need to watch closely, because actually they're not so dim. Remember Stephen Fry went out early on, Alan Carr won. I'm not surprised some of them appear slow to understand things because they have nothing concrete to go on, whereas we know exactly.
I think they need to be good at reading people and just hit lucky.

Oreo Sat 10-Oct-26 15:58:51

I may be going against the grain here but am not keen at all on Miranda.
She constantly button holes contestants and with nothing concrete to go on advises them against people quite aggressively.
She wouldn’t speak to James Blunt after the round table got rid of Julie.

Oreo Sat 10-Oct-26 15:59:59

I think Michael Sheen would be a good traitor, or Romesh.

Parsley3 Sat 10-Oct-26 16:09:47

Joe would be an excellent traitor. I hope he gets recruited when Hannah is (inevitably) banished.

Aveline Sat 10-Oct-26 16:15:27

I could never stand Miranda. Sooner she goes the better.

Oreo Sat 10-Oct-26 16:59:54

I think Miranda is wearing a wig, it fascinates me as it’s so untidy, but I guess that’s her ‘look’ as a comedian.

Fallingstar Sat 10-Oct-26 21:26:09

I usually like Miranda but she is incredibly sour faced and serious so far, and tends to purse her lips and narrow her eyes when Hannah is around, though she hasn’t voted her off yet so not sure what that is about. James Blunt annoys me and so does the rather big built woman with dark hair who just seems to have an expression of bewilderment on her face the whole time.
Joe Lycett is also getting a bit too serious though loving Rob and Romesh which makes me think one of them will be murdered to break up party and thereby leaving the remaining comedian feeling vulnerable.
But am probably totally wrong.

Are you sure?
It looks too bad to be a wig 🧐

Do you think Richard went on purpose? He still got paid and had his play in London.
It's ridiculous they have had to pander to Bella and call her they. Glad she's gone.

Casdon Sat 10-Oct-26 21:37:13

I think Richard was gutted to go.

Maggiemaybe Sat 10-Oct-26 23:12:53

Miranda’s been very ill for years, ME brought on by undiagnosed Lyme disease. Alopecia was one of her symptoms and she’s spoken about her hair growing back “odd”. I read that she only ventured back to public life in 2024 and was easing herself in gently, so I was a bit surprised to see her in something so full on.

"Pander to Bella"...what do you mean?
Nobody pandered to them!

Lixy2 Sun 11-Oct-26 09:40:08

I’m delighted to see Miranda back on TV; she has always been able to make me giggle and we share an admiration of Eric Morcambe. I think the ‘slitty-eyed’ look is just her playing to the camera. I hope she does well.

foxie I agree that it’s all bonkers, but good fun. The celebs seem to be enjoying themselves rather than being freaked out too much by the ghoulish mess. Rather them than me though!

Fallingstar Sun 11-Oct-26 09:42:37

Am sorry to hear about Miranda’s ill health and take back earlier comments.
Hope being on this show doesn’t over tire here.

Ziggy62 Sun 11-Oct-26 09:44:25

I really like Miranda

Aldom Sun 11-Oct-26 15:55:47

I have always enjoyed anything Miranda has acted in.
I think she is very astute and makes an excellent Traitors contestant.
On the whole, I prefer Traitors when the contestants are 'ordinary' people because I think they have a better understanding of how the game works than the majority of the 'celebraties'.

BlueBelle Sun 11-Oct-26 16:45:34

I think Miranda is great and love her batty humour I really like Romish and Rob and Joe, but they haven’t really come into their own
Jerry is annoying
Having watch Traitors from its concept I m not finding this one up with the best dare I say so far a bit predictable and yawning at times

Aveline Sun 11-Oct-26 18:35:03

It's not as good as last year's Celebrity Traitors.
