I know that this has been recommended on here over the years but I’ve just realised it’s now on BBC iplayer so I can finally get to see it.There are six series. Am I right in thinking I’m going to not be able to stop watching it once I start. I still haven’t watched Derry Girls and I’ve got Dear England and Tip Toe to watch, too. And the football…

I watched it when first available and thought it was hilarious and yes it is a binge watch.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 10-Jun-26 01:24:54

I am watching it again for the umpteenth time and enjoying it just as much as the first.
I hope you enjoy.
The episodes are quite short so it’s so tempting to think “ I’ll just watch one more”.

I absolutely loved Schitt’s Creek. I binged on several episodes a day during lockdown. I remember being unsure after the first episode but by the end of the second episode I was in binge mode.

I introduced my adult children and teenage grandchildren to it and they all loved it.

I have watched it through twice now. It is one of the funniest I have ever seen. You are correct in that you will need to binge it once you start.

My DD has recommended it.

Visgir1 Wed 10-Jun-26 08:42:02

I tried it for the first series, Nope didn't think it was funny. Kept hoping it would perk up for me.
So gave up, my DD thought it was brilliant.

I adore it. We have watched the whole series 3 times.
I can almost quote it word for word 🥰

It doesn’t have a cult status for nothing.

MG55 Wed 10-Jun-26 10:44:36

Loved it!

ViceVersa Wed 10-Jun-26 11:18:37

I absolutely loved everything about it. One of those series which is just perfect - and there's not many I will say that about.

henetha Wed 10-Jun-26 11:19:17

I loved it and am planning to watch it right through for the third time now it's on the iplayer.
To me, as well as being funny, it had a real warmth about it and I longed to be part of that family.

It’s a good fun watch, I’m not at all surprised its a cult status thing.

Having read this post, we’re going to give it a try, but do you say sch as in school and schism or just as sh?

EVEOHA2602 Wed 10-Jun-26 12:37:18

I can highly recommend the book accompanying the series 👍☘️

Sh. You won’t be disappointed 😂

It’s the only thing I’ve ever watched through more than once. I think I’m on about the 5th time now! Because it’s so long you (well, I) see things I’d forgotten about the previous time I watched it. It really is a one off and all the players are brilliant.
Gutted when it left Netflix; delighted it’s on iPlayer.

Bellanonna Thu 11-Jun-26 10:58:31

I’ve just realised what you meant Mollygo ! 🤣

So sad now though knowing the wonderful Catherine O’Hara has died.

Dodo43 Thu 11-Jun-26 13:52:42

Yes so sad that Catherine O'Hara died.
She did indeed bring a lot to the series.
I am another huge fan. Only watched it the once so far, but now I may start watching it again for a change.
The series I have been returning to time after time is the American version of The Office. In my opinion much funnier than the British version.

MayBee70 Thu 11-Jun-26 13:55:51

I must admit that I didn’t take to it at first ( thought it fell into the category of trying too hard to be funny and a bit smutty). But carried on watching and it has grown on me. At first I liked the daughter and the receptionist more than the other characters, especially the way the formers character developed. It was only part way through that I realised who Catherine O’Hara was and remembered how upset people were when she died given that she’s a national treasure in America ( I’ve never been a great Home Alone fan). So I’ve only really watched the first series properly and had the next series on in the background while I did other things but then realised that the people in it had become real people to me and I’d developed a fondness for them. Because I only have terrestrial tv it’s great when I discover a new series and can binge watch the whole thing. ( I still think I’m going to find Derry girls even better but I’ll have to save that for another time).

Delila Thu 11-Jun-26 13:57:40

If you enjoy it you won’t be able to stop at watching the whole series only once, it’s warm, very funny, and the characters are so endearing.

MickyD Thu 11-Jun-26 14:05:25

I started watching it again last night for about the 4th time. I think it’s hilarious. Each time I watch it I spot things that I hadn’t picked up on before. For instance, the Mayor Rolland Schitt (roll in schitt) mentioned his great-grandfather Horace Schitt (horse Schitt). I’m sure there’s more that I’ve to catch too.

MickyD Thu 11-Jun-26 14:06:20

Oh and I just love her outfits.

Emeraldforest Thu 11-Jun-26 14:29:03

The title put me off!
