Afternoon all, just had a call from the chap at the fishing holiday place. he would like me to pop along on Friday for another "chat" with him and his wife, but including their daughter this time. (She handles the website and marketing side of the business)

seasider Thu 30-Jan-14 23:53:42

Very best of luck x

Anne58 Thu 30-Jan-14 23:34:53

Many thanks to you all, and you can rest assured that I will let you know how it went! (Might be a bit of a delay, due to the logistics of current car sharing, but there are plans in hand for that!)

it's not my "dream" job, that one came and went, however I like the fact that this is a very successful family run business, so if I'm actually offered it, I think I will have to take it.

Off to bed know, only feeling slightly unhappy about my decision to leave the hair removal!

Nelliemoser Thu 30-Jan-14 23:09:53

Phoenix Sending lots of good thoughts your way.

When you talk about the odd days of working it could be worse.
My DD is on nights this week. When everyone settles down for the evening she is setting off from home at about 8pm to do a shift until 7am ish.

Then she will see her 16mth old for a little while before dropping him off at nursery so she can get back home to sleep. Not fun at all.

Galen Thu 30-Jan-14 22:00:42

Seconded!

Soutra Thu 30-Jan-14 21:52:55

I shall be keeping everything crossed for you too - here's hoping 2014 is your year! The Year of the Phoenix - sounds good!

Ana Thu 30-Jan-14 21:04:26

Yes, it is frustrating when we don't get to hear the outcome of things! [V. nosy emoticon]

Good luck with the interview, phoenix smile

Lona Thu 30-Jan-14 20:56:40

Kiora Thu 30-Jan-14 19:50:04

kittylester Thu 30-Jan-14 19:19:26

Good luck Phoenix. You so deserve it! Xx

Charleygirl Thu 30-Jan-14 19:15:45

Good luck, hopefully you are alone for the second interview and the 18 year old waiting for his interview last time was bypassed.

My fingers are crossed.

shysal Thu 30-Jan-14 19:04:40

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow Phoenix, I have a good feeling about ths one!

Ana Tue 28-Jan-14 20:08:35

I agree, anno, and so may his daughter. Good luck, phoenix!

Lona Tue 28-Jan-14 20:03:51

Looks great phoenix, lots of luck on Friday xx

annodomini Tue 28-Jan-14 19:38:12

As the owner is 70, he may well feel more comfortable employing a 'mature lady'. Hope so.

NfkDumpling Tue 28-Jan-14 19:21:54

The best of good luck Phoenix. First get the job, then see how much having to work Saturdays grates on you. Getting another job will be easier if you're already employed. But it looks a lovely place - imagine siting out there in the sun during lunch breaks - and fresh trout for dinner.

Eloethan Tue 28-Jan-14 18:57:59

That sounds promising phoenix. Good luck.

Mishap Tue 28-Jan-14 18:54:12

Good luck - they sound very nice. What was your impression of them? Would you be happy to work there?

You can bone up on fishing I am sure - I wish you all the luck in the world.

Dragonfly1 Tue 28-Jan-14 16:21:39

Good luck Phoenix, will keep them crossed for you!

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 16:05:26

If this works, you can have a look at it here:

www.theaa.com/route-planner/index.jsp#fromNode=0%7CEX21%205RT%7C%7C-4.215727%7C50.861315%7CtoNode=18260060166769%7CEX21%205XT,%20Beaworthy%7CSTREET%7C245079%7C101138

If not, on the AA Route Planner, it is from EX21 5RT to EX21 5XT

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 16:02:33

Charleygirl according to the AA route planner, it's just over 7.5 miles, (on the doorstep by local standards!) but the first 3 or 4 miles are narrow lanes, but everywhere is like that getting out of the village!

Charleygirl Tue 28-Jan-14 15:59:31

He may have little option, his health may have the last word!

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 15:52:00

Thank you!

This enforced break from employment has enabled me to sort of sit back and take stock.

I really don't think I'm a "corporate" sort of person, Mystery Shoppers Ltd was still very much a family run business, even though I was dealing with large corporate customers (British Gas, National Lottery, Unilever etc). This place is still very much family run, and although the owner is now 70, he doesn't seem willing to "let go" , even though he seems to have some health problems.

Charleygirl Tue 28-Jan-14 15:51:30

A week for cash sounds good to me. Is it far away from where you live?

grannyactivist Tue 28-Jan-14 15:34:09

phoenix that does sound very promising. Here's hoping! smile
