Afternoon all, just had a call from the chap at the fishing holiday place. he would like me to pop along on Friday for another "chat" with him and his wife, but including their daughter this time. (She handles the website and marketing side of the business)

Galen Tue 28-Jan-14 13:48:54

I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Do you like fishing?

Nonu Tue 28-Jan-14 13:50:14

That is wonderful , much , much luck !!
X

baubles Tue 28-Jan-14 13:50:41

Ooh! Everything crossed for you Phoenix

glammanana Tue 28-Jan-14 13:55:05

The very best of luck phoenix this sounds very promising indeed,we have a spare pair of waders in the shed OH used for fishing they are available if you need them pal. x

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 13:58:38

grin not keen on that sort of fishing!

There is a slight downside to the job, days off are Sunday and Wednesday.

yogagran Tue 28-Jan-14 13:59:03

How exciting phoenix - wishing you all the best x

Are they going to take you fishing too? grin

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 14:01:36

It's coarse fishing, carp and that sort of thing!

Galen Tue 28-Jan-14 14:21:24

That's not proper fishing. The fish are trained to jump onto the hook! Give me sea fishing any day.

Gagagran Tue 28-Jan-14 14:23:12

Sunday and Wednesday off sound OK to me. Wednesday for doing jobs, housework etc. Sunday for you and Mr P to do whatever and on Saturdays, when you are working, he meets you from work and whisks you out for tea/ dinner (whatever you call it in Devon). If trusted to do the supermarket run he could do that on Saturday or you could squeeze it into the Wednesday schedule. Sorted! Jolly good luck Phoenix - you deserve a break. sunshine

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 14:27:41

Thank you!

But it means that I won't be able to go to racing club on Saturdays sad

I know it's not important in the grand scheme of things, but it is our only social event.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 28-Jan-14 14:28:22

Ooh good. Fingers crossed. You don't half deserve that job. (at least you can spend Sundays with Mr P. Then have house to yourself Wednesdays)

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 28-Jan-14 14:28:56

Oh that is a shame. Bummer.

merlotgran Tue 28-Jan-14 14:34:19

Good Luck, Phoenix. I've shown DH the website. He wants to know if there'll be a Gransnet Discount if you get the job! grin

annodomini Tue 28-Jan-14 14:36:02

That's the trouble with the leisure industry, phoenix. Employees have to work so that customers can have fun or whatever. DS was a chef in his youth and had to give up hockey on Saturday afternoons. He was a very promising goalie.

annodomini Tue 28-Jan-14 14:37:29

PS. Meant to add: good luck. Hope they love you as much as we do. smile

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 14:44:16

Oh, now you've made me blush

dustyangel Tue 28-Jan-14 14:45:09

Good news Phoenix, best of luck.

LizG Tue 28-Jan-14 14:46:07

Fingers crossed phoenix flowers

durhamjen Tue 28-Jan-14 14:49:02

Was down there the year before last. My brother- and sister-in-law have two lodges at Hartland golf club, near Clovelly. My son has friends who live at Holsworthy. I remember a nice pub there.

Nonu Tue 28-Jan-14 14:49:31

PHO
Racing club or WORK --- cash money !
Think we know the answer to that one girls !

smile

Charleygirl Tue 28-Jan-14 14:50:36

Fingers are crossed for that day. I was beginning to think that they had employed a 16 year old. Very, very good luck.

Mr.P will have completed his second week at his new job so things really are improving. At least it would be a step in the door of the employment market. Better get the glad rags out yet again!

Agus Tue 28-Jan-14 14:55:36

There's always a catch! Sod's law and all that Phoenix. Anyhoo, good luck for Friday.

durhamjen Tue 28-Jan-14 15:00:41

No catch. Mr P can spend Sundays in the pub there.
Good luck for Friday.

Anne58 Tue 28-Jan-14 15:02:03

Nonu you are right of course, and I know how important it is that I start earning asap, it will take a fair bit of time to get back on track, but it must be done. (I really can't face another conversation like the one that I had today with the council tax department, but that, as they say, is another story!)

Charleygirl I have a strong feeling that the majority of my business attire may have shrunk while it's been left in the wardrobe!

Merlot one step at a time, m' thinks!

durhamjen if you are down this way again, do shout, Ariadne is in Bideford, I'm in a village called Shebbear, Holsworthy is our nearest town.
