You know when something seems too good to be true, it usually is?

Well, that's been the case with my new job. Right on the doorstep, good pay for the area, nice people etc etc. I knew when I was taken on that it was on condition of a satisfactory 3 month probationary period, but today I was told that I would not be employed beyond that. sad

The reason given was that although my admin skills were more than good enough, the marketing aspect needed someone with more specialised engineering knowledge. (What they do is very "niche").

So, here I sit, in my company logo embroidered polo shirt, with my company logo embroidered fleece over the back of the chair, crying like a big wuss and feeling like a reject. Again.

Going to look great on my CV, isn't it? "Hasn't had a proper job for longer than 3 months since 2012"

flowers I know you must be feeling wretched now and your entitled to feel that way. But we are being told that the economy is picking up so thing may not be a black as they appear. Fingers crossed

Phoenix can't add anything to what has been already said, that's so tough sad

I agree with everybody else *phoenix". Your boss was aware nearly 3 months ago what your skills were and you were not high up on the engineering side. I also think that he wanted a lot of admin "s***" sorted and that has been done for him.

Where are they going to find somebody with specialised engineering knowledge who is willing to do the admin work at whatever pay you were receiving? Nowhere!

I think that it is very professional of you to finish the tasks that you started, albeit with a heavy heart.

Are there local agencies where you could perhaps see if if there is admin work available? That is another foot in a door to a full time job. I have employed staff in the past via that route.

Your boss is going to notice a big draught once you leave.

Thanks to all.

He did say during the awkward conversation that there were things that I had put in place that they had learnt by and would continue to use, so I suppose I did some good.

Just feel like absolute shit at present, and NO I'm not going to strike through that word!

Going to bed now, and to add insult to injury both cats are marked AWOL, just when I could do with one of Digby's cuddle ups.

Good morning all, and thanks again for all the good wishes.

I am just dreading going back to the searching, applying, hearing nothing back treadmill of job hunting. Knowing how long it took last time, and the soul destroying, energy sapping effect it has makes me feel quite daunted by it all.

This has been a shock for you Phoenix. Not at all what you had hoped for.

Be kind to yourself for a few days until you get your head around it and stay positive. This is something you can deal with and you will move on.
