To expect to be able to find clothes that fit?

I am so fed up with not being able to find skirts that fit me. The main problem is that I have a waist. I know that sounds crazy but all the plus size clothes seem to be made for apple shaped people. If I find a skirt in my size (not easy) the waist is massive and if I fit my waist the hips are far too tight. Added to this I like long skirts (36") and that makes the odds of finding something just about impossible. Have looked on all the plus sized sites and also Evans, Ann Harvey, M&S, and Monsoon but to no avail. I am now getting desperate as I am going away next week and wany to look nice. Grrrrr....

I have started a venture, offering a made to measure skirts.
Used to be a lecturer in a college, before that graduating with a degree in manufacturing and design.
Been only doing it for a couple of month, but so far,
all customers were satisfied, and they were all saying the same thing, couldn't find a skirt to fit them.

two of my customers wanted their own old skirts made up.
the people that are near me, I can measure, then I make a mock up in calico, then make the actual skirt for them.

For those people who are not near me, they send their measurement then I send them the calico mock up.
I am always on the look out for good quality materials,
and have been working with Scottish and Donegal Tweeds.

Sorry if this looks like an advert, it was so interesting reading you thread.

Oh amatterofopinion you are just the sort of person I am looking for. I have skirts that I love (just plain panelled) and am extremely interested in your skills. Would you be kind enough to pm me so we can chat more. I am so excited now xx

Finding clothes to fit is a problem for me too. Not for myself but GD who is only three. To get a dress with an adequate chest measurement I really need to get an age 9 but obviously this would be way too long. At present I am buying 7/8 years with stretch material on bodice and she is wearing the garment calf length.
I would appreciate any comments on larger fitting clothes for little girls, she has a very broad back.
