To expect my DDH to put less in his pockets!

My DDH is a wonderful, delightful and loving man but he has one habit that drives me to distraction. His pockets are so full in his trousers that he looks like he is wearing saddlebags. Goodness knows what he needs all this crap stuff for. We weighed them one day and the total was over 5lb.

When he was in hospital last year they needed two, yes two trays for his personal items.

One problem is that the weight of the pockets pulls on his back pocket which in turn rips at the seam. No amount of pleading will make him reduce the contents.

2 x hankies (one for nose and other for cleaning specs)
Key wallet with at least 6 keys inside.
Caravan Keys
2 sets of car keys
shed key
large Swiss Army Knife
magnifying lense (to identify insects etc)
coins, coins, coins
mobile phone
old film case (to pop specimens into)
nail clippers
(sometimes toenail clippers)

I despair, does anyone else's beloved carry such a jumble of stuff around?

When changing from one pair to another it takes an age while he fill the saddlebags pockets. When he was weighed at the hospital the other week the nurse looked astounded as he emptied his pockets onto a chair.

I couldn't care less how much stuff my OH puts in his pockets.
They are HIS pockets.
Likewise - its none of his business what I stuff into my handbag ( and THAT is A LOT!)

I used to mind when he handed me a pair of trousers saying "The pockets have worn through again". when we were first married I would buy new pocket linings and put them in (not as easy to get them in neatly as they made it sound on the packet) Later on I would just machine across the pocket just above the hole, which made the shallower so that stuff fell out.

More recently I would tell him that it it was time he bought a new pair - or left some of the junk at home, particularly the keys to every door in the house, the car, the caravan, the caravan wheel lock, the trailer wheel lock, Old Uncle Tom Cobbley's horsebox and all.

Update: After seeing my DH wandering around with his saddle bags full and yet another pair of new cords going to the dogs I have managed to convince him that a man bag is a good idea. His response was not unexpected and slightly homophobic. We have decided on a leather pouch which clips onto a belt. It has room for keys, phone, small camera etc. This should save the trousers from further damage. It arrives on 13th Feb, will keep you all informed. Bet you cannot wait.

When my late DH was on dialysis, we solved the problem of where to put the empty (attached to him) bag, by buying a man bag that clipped onto his belt.
