AIBU or is he the most annoying person on the planet??

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 23-Oct-15 12:23:57

look at this ridiculous idea he had Thick as the proverbial I would say.

LullyDully Fri 23-Oct-15 12:56:57

He is annoying . I would say he has an ASD.

JessM Fri 23-Oct-15 12:59:04

I'm sure they are directed to be chirpy on Springwatch. And you don't get to have a successful career in TV unless you are a bit larger than life and good at promoting yourself.
What did irritate me last night was the continuous recap and trailer format that reminds me of an OFSTED approved lesson formula or "presentation for beginners" - Tell them what you are going to tell them. Then keep summarising. Prepare them for what comes next. etc. Not his fault.

Greyduster Fri 23-Oct-15 13:11:24

I'm getting fed up of most presenters now. There was an excellent programme about how cars are made on this week and it was completely ruined for DH and I by Kate Humble (who never seemed to stop giggling) and James May (especially James May!) bumbling around getting in everyone's way and having to 'have a go'. They added nothing to what was otherwise an excellent and informative programme. Why does everyone have to 'have a go'? Whether it's somebody off Countryfile, the odious Greg Wallace driving farm machinery or those indicated above, it ruins it for me.

LullyDully Fri 23-Oct-15 13:45:58

What is so irritating is that the programmes seem to give a greater importance to the presenters than the content. Some people just are so irritating that they ruin the programme.

The repetition on ITV after each advert break drives, me mad.

I don't really know what CP's views are I just know that on TV talks over other presenters and guests, overrides discussions and generally dominates - ego ego ego!!! nasty.

LullyDully Fri 23-Oct-15 14:28:48

Or autistic

rosequartz Fri 23-Oct-15 15:25:34

Has anyone else been irritated by Tom Bradby presented the ITV News at Ten?

I can't watch him. He reads the news as if he is presenting a slightly jokey current affairs programme (like The Agenda); I don't want ironic tones with hints of his own views on whatever he is telling us.
I just want the news - straight please!

Oh no, I have just looked it up and he has taken over from Julie Etchingham and Mark Austin.
Why oh why oh why.

The BBC for me (we used to try to alternate between the two).

rosequartz Fri 23-Oct-15 15:26:40

Yes, getting back to the discussion, how come all these actors, comedians, presenters etc are getting lots of plum jobs travelling around the world and enjoying themselves with a few asides to the camera?

seacliff Fri 23-Oct-15 15:30:13

He annoys me. I know he has a lot of knowledge but he comes across as so big headed, always wants the limelight, and rather arrogant.

shysal Fri 23-Oct-15 15:58:21

Greyduster, I also felt that the live programme from the Mini plant was spoilt by the bumbling James, and Kate who should have her hands tied down. Otherwise I enjoyed it though, it is only about 3 miles from my village but I knew little of the process.

JessM Sat 24-Oct-15 08:16:44

The BBC do those bloody repeats and trailers inside their programmes as well. The other thing that happens is that nearly all presenters on the BBC have been to presenter school and talk in that weird way that emphasises several words in every sentence. I fear Carol from Gardener's world may have invented this style - or possibly she runs the training...
At this time of year I love to see the glorious vibrant autumn colours. etc

Lona Sat 24-Oct-15 08:48:56

She gets right on my wick!

JamJar1 Sat 24-Oct-15 09:27:51

Oh my wick too. grin Can no longer watch Countryfile, it's too like Blue Peter. Other half was looking forward to the Mini documentary but switched off after a little while, Kate Humble. I was going to watch the harvest programmes but never even bothered as I saw Gregg "Shouty" Wallace was presenting.

loopylou Sat 24-Oct-15 09:30:41

Oh dear, reading this thread they all get up my nose, I'm clearly becoming seriously grumpy no more than usual says DH as he ducks

My tolerance is at an all time low for some reason hmm

rosequartz Sat 24-Oct-15 12:18:11

Leave Kate alone grin
It's all them others

Tegan Sat 24-Oct-15 12:35:05

I've long believed that anyone who is critical of anyone who does live television or radio should be made to actually do it themselves for an hour wink.

Maranta Sat 24-Oct-15 13:39:12

I'm afraid all the presenters annoy me somewhat these days. It's interesting to watch the old Coast programmes and compare them to the recent ones. Nicholas Crane has obviously done some presenter courses and now emphasises almost every word. I also get irritated by all the hand gestures most of them do too, in a serious news report it is uncalled for.

annodomini Sat 24-Oct-15 15:17:57

Good point, Tegan. Is there any presenter any of us do like? Someone has to do it.

shysal Sat 24-Oct-15 15:53:08

I do like Adam Henson on Countryfile.

merlotgran Sat 24-Oct-15 16:03:14

If anybody deserves to be in the next honours list it's Adam Henson. He's done so much for encouraging young people to look at agriculture as a worthwhile career as well as educating those who have a dismissive attitude towards the hard work involved in running a farm.

He has taken on the challenge started by his father to conserve rare breeds and is has the sense to realise that although he has become a celebrity thanks to Countryfile, the countryside, the farms and the animals are the real stars.

shysal Sat 24-Oct-15 17:32:47

merlotgran, you are so right about Adam, you put it so much better than I could have done! smile

rosequartz Sat 24-Oct-15 20:12:48

You can go and stay on Adam's farm, there is a campsite there. Some younger friends have been and were thrilled when he posed for photos with them!

rosequartz Sat 24-Oct-15 20:14:22

I do rather like Neil Oliver and his C U Jimmy style of presenting though ..... grin
