Mog pretender

I have just seen it and I loved it.The best Christmas ad so far.I am old enough not to remember what Mog looked like but enjoyed it for itself,and no overt advertising.

The real Mog has a softer face doesn't she? But a lovely ad and Judith Kerr has a cameo! Just sent it on to my DD, I can still recite those Mog books off by heart.

Loved Mog, but haven't yet seen the ad. Didn't Mog go to meet her maker and a new kitten come to take her place?

Haven't seen the ad yet, but if it has Mog in it, I am sure to like it.

I've seen it, but wouldn't particularly want to see it again. It's too long, for one thing (and has a silly, implausible ending. Bah Humbug!)

For goodness sake, what a load of rubbish. They are all trying to be too clever. I don't like the JL or the Aldi ads either.

Sainsbury's are selling the book in store as Mog's Christmas Calamity, £3, with £2 going to Save the Children to help children's literacy in the UK.
I think it's lovely still.

I liked it. I admit they haven't quite got Mog right but the storyline is the sort of thing that happens to Mog in the books and the twee ending is perfect for Christmas and for a Mog story.

The ad is in the spirit of Mog who as a bit thick but always won in the end , by default.

I do wonder if my neighbours would be so generous however!!!!!

I saw the shortened version just a while ago. Makes even less sense because it doesn't show how Mog put the oven on, then phoned 999 accidentally later on...

(But at least it doesn't go on for so long!)

Love it......even shed a tear...Mog was such a big part of my girls' bedtime reading....and they are all grown up now.

I actually think the JL one is creepy.

There's a great deconstruction of the JL ad on The Now Show. Love that programme - it's the best satire on the media nowadays. It's also worth hearing for Dr Phil Hammond's contribution. Get it on i-player and enjoy it!

No TV but I watched the Mog ad on line and LOVED it. If you know the books (obligatory for every child in the past 45 years) you see all the familiar bits, like the walking Christmas tree and Mog's breakfast egg.
Judith Kerr is a national treasure and it's great that a good donation from every book and Mog toy goes to Children in Need.

PS Who didn't weep bucketsful over Goodbye Mog and still has a sniffle over every reminder of it?

Now that's a proper Christmas advert! Lots of Mog references as Apricot says and a solid moral end "Christmas is for sharing". And charity will benefit as in last year's WW1 Sainsbury ad. Eat your heart out JL, Sainsbury have won again.
