Warm trousers ? I'm always cold when everyone else is warm . In the house I have already started wearing pj bottoms but I feel like I haven’t got dressed. It would be good to hear of recommendations for decent ones I could wear outside.

Long socks, over the knee, surprising how warm they keep your legs under trousers etc

M & S silky thermal leggings. Not bulky but warm. 4.6/5 stars from M & S customers on their website.

For years I scoffed at thermals, until I tried them! So cosy and warm without feeling bulky either!

Make sure you get trousers which are made of natural fibre.
Acrylic won’t warm you.
Wear woollen socks .

I didn't know that fleece lined leggings were available. I live in Pennsylvania and while not as cold as the four years we lived in North Dakota; they will feel great! Thanks for the info.

I'ma rugby fan and fir the cold winter matches I wear corduroy trousers with tights or leggings underneath. Seems to work for me and I to feel the cold easily.

I wear leggins under both skirts and trousers when I go out in the autumn and winter.

Fortunately, we can afford to keep the house warm enough not to need layers and layers of clothing indoors.

Should say tights!! Grrrr predictive text!

whywhywhy Wed 02-Oct-19 12:29:22

Tight worn under my jeans in cold weather.

Damart is a good place to start They frequently have offers on many of their lines in trousers and my favourite is the 'leisure'. Fleecy, washable and in various colours with an elasticated waist plus a cord to tighten them up should you have been on a diet.grin

Primark do temp control 40 and higher denier tights that work well even under trousers.
Good thing is that thy are pretty comfie to wear and don't make you feel sweaty in places you don't want to be!
There are also a lot of shops that sell thermal leggings that are ok to wear under trousers.
Personally, I go for jogging bottoms (not all have elasticated ankles) and can recommend Bon Marche' s. They look quite smart whenever they are worn. Oh, and I noticed that Peacocks have some nice trousers that are soft touch that will be warm.

Thermal leggings and vest - bought about 3 years ago from M&S and still going strong. I also wear cord trousers in winter.

sazz1 Wed 02-Oct-19 11:05:54

I wear cord trousers to keep warm in winter

Missfoodlove Wed 02-Oct-19 10:06:55

I have a pair of cashmere and wool tights.
Absolutely amazing warm and comfortable!
Expensive but worth every penny.

Two layers is the best because you have an insulating layer. At home you could pull a pair of track suit trousers over your pyjama trousers.

To save on thermal underwear, wear pyjama bottoms under jeans or trousers.

I was going to say thermal underwear. When it's cold I have a long sleeved vest and long johns. A pair of warm fleecy socks helps as well.

harrigran Wed 02-Oct-19 09:08:54

I bought ski thermals to go under trousers in the winter, they are very fine but do the job. Bought mine in Sainsbury's.

I suggest you try thermal leggings/footless tights. I have a pair which I wear under jeans when it’s really cold and they are brilliant. They are very lightweight (hardly know you are wearing them) and they keep me beautifully warm when walking the dog . Can’t remember where I bought them from, John Lewis or M&S I would think.

Another vote for fleece lined leggings. I wear them under trousers and stay warm and cozy. Some Craghoppers winter fleece lined walking trousers kept me dry and warm in Northern Norway in February, even outside at night watching the Northern Lights. . Expensive though and not particularly elegant.

Me too Twiceasnice I'm still wearing sandals and lightweight clothing, hate being hot.

Tangerine Tue 01-Oct-19 20:17:21

Tights under trousers keep you warm.

I don't wear tights under trousers but I know people who do and they say it works for them.

Harris27 Tue 01-Oct-19 20:13:45

My friend has Reynards disease and she’s always cold she bought some fleece leggings from primary and said they were great.

TwiceAsNice Tue 01-Oct-19 20:08:25

I have the opposite problem never feel the cold and hate layers. Am currently still wearing a dress and thin cardi and no tights to work. Still wearing espadrilles. May go onto tights/shoes after half term
