Hello everyone, I have just joined Gransnet, not sure how it works, so here goes, I find cardmaking very relaxing, I tend to do flat cards and 3d decoupage, is anyone out there that enjoys the same thing.

I love making cards too. My favourite technique is stamping. I'm not very inspired at the moment though. Think it's a winter occupation for me.

Well, I enjoy it too but I'm more of a Blue Peter cut and stick person blush.

There is nothing like a bit of cut and stick cornergrangrin

My niece makes the most beautiful, elaborate, cards, using all the techniques mentioned above. I have kept every one she ever sent me; I consider them works of art so too good to throw away. I thought I spent a lot of money on my hobby until she told me how much she's spends on hers shock!!

I used to make decoupage cards but it was getting too expensive buying the card and printer inks so packed it up after my printer died, where I live we have a stockist of decoupage cards in the comunal lounge @ £1.20p each so now buy them when I need a card. I did take pictures of all the cards I had made and put them on a disc but sadly lost the disc during my move to downsize! sad

I am another card maker , I have a Cricut , but haven't managed to get to grips with it .The Bigshot and the bigshot+are my best diecutters , I have a Bug but it broke down , so all my cards must cost about £100 each to make !!I love decoupage too and find it soothing to sit cutting out the layers

I also make cards and had a mad idea that when I took the early retirement I would have loads of time for it ... then real life took over!
I don't do decoupage unless it's die-cut, I hate all that fussy cutting and am not good at it.
I also have a Cricut Explore and just love it. Our attic is converted into my craft room and it's a big mess most of the time, but since nobody has to look at it except me it doesn't matter. grin

What do you do with your surplus cards?

NanaandGrampy Mon 11-Jul-16 21:01:08

I do all the ones for all occasions for my family . Then I also keep up a regular correspondence with some ill children on www.postpals.co.uk .

I have been making cards for years. Stamping & die cutting etc. but have now got into mixed media & I am producing some interesting canvases. It makes a change & I can keep them!

Clickgran Mon 22-Aug-16 14:19:20

I enjoy making pop up cards, boxes etc, getting ideas from Pinterest . I only make them for family though

NanaandGrampy Mon 22-Aug-16 16:59:55

What's mixed media*Crafty*? Can you post a picture it sounds intriguing !!

Really want to get into cardmaking, a few people in my family do it and it looks so rewarding! Must be so time-consuming though..!

pensionpat Tue 23-Aug-16 10:01:47

It can take up as much time as you want. When I began I was going through a very sressful time with 2 aging, ill parents, new job. You get the picture. When I made my cards it was restful because I was sitting down. It occupied me physically and mentally which meant I could not think about my problems. It was a life-saver. Just realised perhaps one reason I am not doing much lately us that family things are fairly quiet. Shh!

Hi welcome to GN. I used to do a lot of card making and have a huge amount of stock and equipment but have lost my mojo for now so decided to leave it until I retire - one day smile

wot Tue 23-Aug-16 20:40:30

I have not made cards, but the lady next door makes beautiful ones, and she is very thoughtful in her making, getting it just right for the person as well as the occasion. We have had a few from her now, and although normally I am a chuck it out and don't horde person I never throw those away.too much skill and kind thoughts gone into the making of them.
When I get time, and usually on Winters evenings I like to make bags and purses. I like to do them a bit unusual and find vintage bits and bobs to decorate them . I have also started doing patchwork and am s l o w l y doing a bedspread. Not sure how to take this but when I showed My DiL she said " Will you live long enough to get that finished do you think?" GRRR I told her I would give it my best shot grin, and that if I didn't SHE had to finish it or I would come back to haunt her!
