Funny I’ve just been into the charity shop and bought a brand new skirt pattern. Don’t have a clue when I think I will be able to make one but now I can look for fabric. I seem to be a standard size but will look at your site.

I bought mine when on holiday in France,perhaps the currency used is different in the euro zone.

Yes, DD was like that a few years ago. But after the Raina Plaze fire, she decided to try making her own clothes, now she has found this site she is away as the patterns are sized round her shape and she doesn't have to buy patterns and then make adjustments to match ehr shape.

It looks good, I wouldn't mind trying the site. But..... the first pattern I looked at was a knit top with a shawl collar; the information at the top says: "Fabrics: knit" then "Is stretchy: no". I don't know of any knit fabrics that aren't stretchy! Some are more stretchy than others, but all are stretchy

Bathseheba Yes, that is an anomaly, but the main reason I recommended this site is for its capacity for you to design your own garment, and have the pattern adjusted for your exact size.

DD and I were able to decide all the features of my dress from skirt length to sleeve shape and length and neck design. We were able to put in my precise measurements and get a pattern that precisely fitted me.

As you identified, they do have some ready designs you can buy and but if you give them the details thay will print out pattern pieces adjusted to your precise shape.

Thinking about it, stretchy/not stretchy probably means fabric designed to stretch, like lycra, compared with standard jersey fabrics that have a certain amount of give, but handle like stable fabrics when sewing with them.

M0nica I think it's a small point. On the whole the site seems an amazing idea, and perfect for people who have body measurements that are way off the standard scale. Women who have to do a full bust adjustment every single time they make themselves a top, because their bust measurement is a double G for example, would love this idea - it does all the work for you!

I don't really know what you mean by 'standard jersey'. I sew a lot with cotton lycra, usually 95/5, and it is very stretchy, usually in all directions. Even 100% cotton jersey, with no lycra, has a good deal of stretch in it. So, no, I think they've got that bit wrong - rather misleading if you ask me.

It is a small point. My problem is I do not have a waist. My ribs end only inches above my hip bone. I also have a narrow back and small bust.

The pattern we got back to my measurements was spot on. I went for a slightly raised waist and the bodice. which was princess line fits perfectly. The dress still lacks a zip but DD bought one today and I will collect the finished dress when I see her at the end of the month.

Reading all the clothes threads on GN at present at the moment, this is the year of the patterned dress, which has left me feeling very smug because this project started over a year ago but stalled because I could not find the right pattern. Now with this site I have exactly the dress I want in the fabric I chose.

That's a very good price for a pattern M0nica and amazing for one made just for you. I belong to a pattern exchange group on Facebook which helps keep costs down although some of them are quite dated. There are a lot of independent pattern designers around now too.
