I'm not asking a question at the moment, just thought i'd say hello. I wasn't sure of the correct place to do so.

So, hello everbody,

Posie.

Hi Posie and welcome. I see you live in Scotland - there are quite a few of us North of the Border. Whereabouts are you?

Galen Sat 06-Apr-13 17:05:01

Hello and wellcome.smile

soop Sat 06-Apr-13 17:05:23

Hello Posie ...and I live on the Kintyre Peninsula on the west coast of bonnie Scotland. A warm welcome to Gransnet. smile

Hi posie Have you seen the thread about a coffee and cake meetup in Edinburgh? No date or place yet, it is just a twinkle in the eye.

posie Sat 06-Apr-13 17:48:01

Hi Elegran, Edinburgh is too far for me unfortunately. Would have been nice though as not really any friends nearby.
I'm a carer for my husband who was diagnosed with the onset of Alzheimer's last year.
I'm really lucky with my daughter however as she only lives about 15miles away & we get on really well.
She's also expecting her second baby end of May.smile

Hello and welcome.

Sorry to hear about your husband - mine has Parkinsons so I can understand how things might be for you.

How exciting to have a baby on the way. Our 6th GC was born 9 weeks ago - a little girl.

posie Sat 06-Apr-13 17:57:58

It is exciting isn't it? Cheers me up just thinking about it.
Will have to wait & see what it is - though I'm hoping for a girl too.

Just looked out the window & it's snowing huge flakes!!
Hard to believe just yesterday I was mowing the grass in lovely sunshine & listening to the frogs chorus as they arrived at the pond for their spring mating.

Welcome posie, I look forward to reading your future contributions to GN. I must warn you that it can be addictive! The weather today has been really warm here in Oxford, after weeks of biting cold winds. You have years of fun ahead with a new grandchild.

numberplease Sat 06-Apr-13 18:37:28

Welcome Posie, weather`s still beautiful here, sunny and 8 degrees.

GillieB Sat 06-Apr-13 20:26:41

Hello, Posie, I hope you enjoy your time on Gransnet. I live near to Newcastle upon Tyne and this afternoon we took our 2 year old GS to the beach - I don't think I have felt so cold for a long, long time. Roll on summer!

posie Sat 06-Apr-13 20:53:47

Thanks for the welcome everybody.

Ariadne Sat 06-Apr-13 21:11:50

Hello, posie! I'm in Devon, so a long way away, but virtually close.

merlotgran Sat 06-Apr-13 21:13:40

Welcome to Gransnet, Posie wine

Deedaa Sat 06-Apr-13 22:20:50

Welcome to the fun factory Posie smile Sorry to hear about your husband, but what fun to have a new grandchild to look forward to. I've got 2 grandsons 6yrs and 3months and another expected in the autumn. My husband had to retire early through ill health so Gransnet gives me something else to think about.

Welcome posie has been a pleasant day in NE England but just put my nose out of the front door and it is freezing.

I am a newbe this type of thing. It is not the happy event we thought it would be. We became a grandparents in october. The saying, a daughter is a daughter for life, a son is a son until he gets a wife, has proved more that true. It has been made very hard for us to see our son, wife and grandaughter. They have got rid of the spare double bed so if we want to stay, 'there is a hotel at the end of the road'. We now have a 3hr round trip to see them and this weekend. I found out on face book our grandaughter had been to hospital. I can't describe how gutting that is.

soop Wed 10-Apr-13 18:13:54

gwxmj I feel so sad for you. Try to nurture positive thoughts. I wish you well. flowers

bookdreamer Wed 10-Apr-13 18:24:10

Indeed. I can't think how awful that would be. My thoughts are with you.

Lilygran Wed 10-Apr-13 19:13:32

gwxmj I'm so sorry that you are having this problem and hope it is resolved soon. I think a lot of new parents just lose touch with reality and if you live any a distance, you can't offer to pop in and help. Where are the other grandparents? Can you make contact with them?
