Sorry to hear that; can you ask the travel company if they could arrange a trip nearer to home instead a bit later on if not a refund?

I am so sorry to hear you have been forced to cancel your trip grannylyn65 . Such a shame and as others have said, rotten luck.

This has happened to me a couple of times in the past as like you, I have an ongoing health problem that is declared (but not covered) on my travel insurance.

I hve hAd to cancel two long haul holidays previously due to inner ear problems resulting in violent vomitting and dizziness, one only the dAy prior to departure. I was so upset. you must be too but You wouldn't want to be away on holiday with this going on but what a disappointment for you.
Hope you can arrange another trip another time.

So sorry granny especially after all the encouragement. I know this doesn't help but an old friend fell over in her garden, knocked down a piece of statuary from its plinth, and ended up with such a bad leg ulcer that she had to cancel a trip to Borneo and lost £3ooo. I said, oh they'll give you a discount t on another holiday etc. No, unfortunately the accident happened just before she renewed her insurance. She didn't think to declare it because well, it was only a fall and she'd recover soon. She hadn't heard of leg ulcers. She's still recovering, three months later. I'm so, so sorry for you. It's rotten luck but hope you can arrange another trip in the U.K. that you feel happy with. Horrible things do happen, we all get them but we eventually get over them. Best of luck for a quick recovery from that horrible bug. Damn all bugs.

I know how you feel granny we had a holiday booked in Italy a couple of years ago and had to cancel when we were both struck down with Norovirus a few days beforehand. Luckily we knew the hotel very well and they didn't charge us for the room, but we lost the price of the flights and it was the last time DH was really well enough to think about having a holiday.

What a shame grannylyn! I feel your disappointment! Perhaps for the best but it would have been a wonderful holiday if you had been feeling ok.

Just to say I sympathise with you and hope you're feeling better.
I know how much preparation is needed before going to India, I've done it twice. Expensive too.
I had to cancel a visit to UK in May, and got nothing back.

There is always a next time. India is NOT expensive.

Read today that in Benares, Varanasi, at an ashram 3,000 people were expected at a function........ 70,000 turned up, 30 dead. Trampled underfoot.

Expensive? I had to pay for the visa, the injections as well as the flights. Son paid for the internal flights.
Agreed - once you're there everything is very cheap by our standards.

So sorry for you. We have a long distance holiday booked next month and it always seems to be the world suddenly goes against us a couple of weeks before.

Oh what rotten luck- I am so sorry. Don't you have travel insurance that will cover the loss, if you get a doctor's certificate? Not that it would help with the frustration- but at least it would be something so you can plan another perhaps 'easier' trip for when you feel better.

We should cancel our trip to Cape Town due to the fast falling £ - but most of it has been prepaid and no insurance would cover for Brexit!!! So perhaps our last trip for a long time- but with DH's 70th BD and our 45th wedding anniv- we are going- come what may.

Hope you get to go on a really pleasant other trip even if nearer asap. x

What a shame granny, you really don't deserve this at all. It's not just the money, it's the expectation and excitement of it all, planning where you would go etc. I really feel for you. India sounds like a fascinating place to visit. And £1500 is a lot of money to loose out on with nothing to show for it. for you. to cheer you up.

I have given up for the moment going anywhere other than on my settee. I have ventured to the seaside in March, had to come home earlier than planned, and then only went to the spa for two nights and came home after first night due to health. So no more for now, I'll stay put and watch Michael Palin wandering the globe instead.

Oh no! Such bad luck. This is the one thing I worry about when we have booked travel in advance. Get well soon
