My grandson called me "clapped" is this a nice thing? What does this mean?

tanith Tue 08-Sep-20 15:01:47

I’m not sure you’d want to know Gangstagrani it isn’t complimentary.

trustgone4sure Tue 08-Sep-20 15:08:35

As long as he didn`t put the word "out" on the end,i wouldn`t worry.
I don`t know where the English language has gone.
It`s changed beyond belief.
Wicked was bad once,now it`s good,chips was a food,now it`s in a device etc.

Don’t google it via urban dictionary......it’ll only upset you. Put it this way I’d cancel his pocket money...

Hello gangstagrani, are you new? Welcome if you are!

Callistemon Tue 08-Sep-20 16:01:55

Is he called David Walliams, Gangstagrani? Or Alfred by any chance?

Toadinthehole Tue 08-Sep-20 16:04:32

How old is he? I don’t know what it means either, but depending on his age, could mean totally different things. It might be something he’s heard, and has just regurgitated.

Parsley3 Tue 08-Sep-20 16:18:19

Ask him what he means.

EllanVannin Tue 08-Sep-20 16:43:58

I'd hit him round the ear and say " and that's clipped " grin.

It sounds as if you suspect that it might be uncomplimentary. Is he a teenager at the really awkward stage?

Either way I would find out and con'front him or tell his parents. Using foul language to ones grandmother, because she does not understand what it means is just about as contemptible as it comes. Deal with it upfront and make your anger at his despicable behaviour clear.

Madgran77 Tue 08-Sep-20 18:16:12

He is extremely rude and needs telling it is unacceptable and hurtful, appropriate to his age. Suggest you discuss it with his parents .

welbeck Tue 08-Sep-20 18:19:30

is this for real.
or are you having us on, OP ?

Toadinthehole Tue 08-Sep-20 18:30:33

Which bit do you mean welbeck? She really knows what it means...and pretends she doesn’t, or she was never called it at all ? I looked it up?. Horrible....if that’s what he means. How old is he?

Tangerine Tue 08-Sep-20 19:40:31

How old is your grandson?

I agree that, if he is old enough to know what it means, he has been extremely rude.

However, if he's a child of about, say 8, he might have heard the expression from another child and repeated it?

I'd find out if your grandson understood what he'd said.

Seriously?
