Only a few days into Gransnet and I am really enjoying it all and I shall mention it to quite a few friends but unfortunately my closest friend is child-less by choice so don't think I shall tell her. I see her several times a week and I feel I am keeping something from her but I think she would be frankly appalled at the thought. She is a truly kind and thoughtful friend but prefers animals to children.

I feel a bit territorial about GN and don't really want to share it with any of my friends - for obvious reasons grin. To me and I'm sure to others it's almost a lifeline - something to hang on to in times of stress, happiness, anger or when you just want to tell someone about something 'right now' - even if it isn't particularly interesting. I would be devastated if for some reason GN wasn't there any more, although I suspect might survive! I do have to try and limit my visits otherwise I could be glued to the screen for hours at a time and I have been amazed at some of the topics which have cropped up since May - they seem to become bigger and better as the days pass. I thought I was open minded but ..........shock and blush - I have certainly learnt a lot - I've even been called a racist, which I found a bit hard to digest and at times have wanted to comment on something but have felt it inappropriate - but we can't all be the same can we which is what makes GN what it is.

Gally Well said smile Gransnet is a cosy room into which I may wander - knowing that, whatever my mood, I shall meet a friend with whom I may share my personal hopes, fears, trials and tribulations, together with the celebratory 'walking-on-air' moments...thanks

Me too! Since I had an iPad, I find I keep being drawn onto it, to check e mails, etc then inevitably towards Gransnet, to see what the latest info is and then the Forums and everyones comments.
Some of you sound as if you have been friends for a long time and have amazing and entertaining "chats", I find it enjoyable and enter which ever threads attract me the most.
Also helpful when you want advice/help from others.....
Keep it up folks.

Me too on my iPad. I cant keep away from it. This means I am not watching as much tv, or reading so much. I used to read a book every one or two days, I've only read one since my dd suggested I might like gn. Today she said " I told you you'd like it"
