Well done anno it was upsetting me that you were perfect and I am not wink Now I can believe you are as bad as me if the halo has gone

annodomini Fri 21-Dec-12 23:39:32

I am putting the halo back in the drawer until the next time the world ends.

Nelliemoser Fri 21-Dec-12 23:21:12

gracesmum I heard that on the Radio. The newsreader delivered that so totally deadpan it was funny. grin

gracesmum Fri 21-Dec-12 22:37:45

News item this evening."Today according to the Mayan calendar, some people believed the world was going to end at 11.11a.m. (pause) It didn't."

And I've been eating chocolate all week knowing that it didn't matter....

Brendawymms Fri 21-Dec-12 20:17:22

Well be all survived. There's a surprise. Happy Christmas and a healthy and wise 2013. smile

I must've been on a lot of wet camps. We used to dig a trench around each tent to stop water running in. They were the patrol tents with no built in ground sheet. Great tents but harder work than modern ones.

Marelli Fri 21-Dec-12 13:22:55

I didn't do the drainage ditches, Bags - only the latrines blush. Suppose it would work the same though hmm.

Movedalot Fri 21-Dec-12 13:21:09

You can park your ark here if you like, we are on a hill grin

Anno I haven't got one let alone two wink

Bags Fri 21-Dec-12 13:14:32

Dig a drainage ditch like those ones we had to dig at guide camps long ago, marelli wink. Hope the water doesn't reach you. Our back terrace is awash, but then it often is. We just have to make sure the drains aren't blocked.

Bags Fri 21-Dec-12 13:12:36

Double-buffing, just to be on the safe side, eh, anno?

Marelli Fri 21-Dec-12 13:12:01

The Great Flood instead? One end of the village is closed off due to one of the rivers having burst its banks So, having been shuttled by here and there by different buses this morning so DH could go and get his new gnashers installed, I can see that the other river has burst its banks (we're between the two) and the water is creeping across the field towards us shock. I'm not going to bother hoovering now.

annodomini Fri 21-Dec-12 13:01:03

Twice!

annodomini Fri 21-Dec-12 13:00:46

And there I was, polishing my halo! grin

Watched the programme about it last night and the Mayans had never heard of it. Anyway, if they were so bloomin clever, why were their huge cities wiped out? confused

So glad I didn't bother to posh up just in case, couldn't be scruffier as I still have the kitchen to clean grin

feetlebaum Fri 21-Dec-12 12:31:33

The meejuh have been illustrating their stories with a picture of the Mayan Calendar - only it isn't. It's neither Mayan nor a calendar - but an Aztec Sun Stone...

Well - I'm still here. You lot?

Faye Fri 21-Dec-12 12:06:32

Last year I saw a Mayan interviewed about the Mayan calendar ending and he said he had never heard of it. grin

Notsogrand Fri 21-Dec-12 12:05:01

Great to hear from you jeni smile

Barrow Fri 21-Dec-12 12:04:12

If the world is going to end on Mayan time it will, apparently be at 5.11 pm tonight so you still have time to finish off the mince pies/wine/cake grin

Mamie Fri 21-Dec-12 11:57:19

Very timely to be off Finisterre for the end of the world / land! Bon voyage....

jeni Fri 21-Dec-12 11:50:40

Well we didn't sink! Just a very brief visit. We've had to miss out Oporto because of the weather. It was very very rough last night. Not sick , but I think some were!
They were forecasting 40 ft waves but it wasn't that bad. Rocked me to sleep in fact!
Regards to you all.
Just had to check the world hadn't ended for you as we'll!
From just off finnisterre.

A small bang happened by me about 10 minutes ago but I have looked around and can find no damage in the immediate area.
Looks as if I will be giving my granddaughters their Christmas Presents.
I have paid for my share of my daughters / son in laws /granddaughters Bupa membership renewal for another year which would have been wasted.
Hopefully they will not have to use it but it is something I want them to have.

Bit of a damp squib then.

Right, what's the next excuse for not getting on with the Christmas clean up?

Elegran Fri 21-Dec-12 11:15:12

So far, so good......
