Just watched this and thought what a rich seam it could be for us!

My choice for today would be young women who affect squeaky, little girl voices.

The recent trend of saying yeh/no whenever someone is asked a question. It is spreading like wildfire.

I think my son calls me "mummy" most of the time. He's 31 (or perhaps 32). I remember going through a period when I would jump on it every time - when he was about twenty. "You cannot call me "mummy" any more!" Didn't do any good.

I quite like it now.

DD2 calls me by my christian name. Especially in busy shops, when she barks it out! hmm

DD1 is the only normal one.

that was in respond to Fontana's post btw.

j07 Sat 12-Jan-13 10:27:53

Ant and Dec; Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond - I'll keep James May.

I have a friend who not only puts on a little girl voice but also refers to her, deceased, parents as mummy and daddy - she is in her early 60s. It does annoy me - especially when she does her silly voice in restaurants, but she is the kindest, sweetest person so I forgive her little affectations.

(I know there's an earlier thread on it, but) is it only me or is the new series of Silent Witness dire? All that soft focus on trembling lips, accompanied by awful music - and once again what actually are the main characters supposed to be doing? Because they seem to want to do the police work, possibly because they don't appear to have enough to do. Room 101.

Credit titles at the end of television programmers that roll so quickly or zoom to a small size that you cannot possibly read them

Grannyknot Sat 12-Jan-13 13:11:21

The woman on SKy who starts shouting about what's coming next, just when you're enjoying the final song in the soundtrack.

yogagran Sat 12-Jan-13 13:13:27

Trailers and "voice overs" that butt in to the end of the programme that you have been watching and totally destroy the amosphere

yogagran Sat 12-Jan-13 13:14:23

Grannyknot . You got there before me grin

Grannyknot Sat 12-Jan-13 13:15:34

Haha yoga great minds. I'm glad it's not only me! You'd think the programmers would know. I shake my head.

"Sorry, guys"....to a long queue of mainly elderly ladies (older than me!), when there was a problem at the till in Iceland. shock

annodomini Sat 12-Jan-13 14:35:18

Letter boxes that almost take your hand off. I'm sure that posties across the land will agree with that. I have just cut myself on my neighbour's letter box, delivering a letter that had come to me by mistake. I used to come across a lot of these in my political activist days and had many a broken nail as a result. Have just checked mine which, I'm glad to say, is not quite so impenetrable.

Married couples who call each other mummy and daddy, non relatives called auntie or uncle - it's just not right!

jeni Sat 12-Jan-13 18:13:43

Particularly if they have no children, only a cat or dog!

merlotgran Sat 12-Jan-13 18:30:05

People who pronounce st as sht as in, I'm a shtudent on my way to the shtation. Where did that come from?

Tweedle24 Sat 12-Jan-13 18:31:44

Our local police station provides a door sign similar to Nanado's It tells callers that if they return, they are breaking the law. Possible deterrent? Pity it cannot be heard on the phone by cold callers.

petra Sat 12-Jan-13 18:44:26

My OHs ex wife put on that voice whenever she called us. It was so childish I thought it was one of his girls. Funny thing is, we couldn't be more opposite in that department. I have a very loud voice.
