thread you mentioned

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 08-Feb-14 12:56:37

shock !!!

I have now read the thread. And I am saying nothing. hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 08-Feb-14 12:58:54

Except that, they are ageist little b-----rs!

We haven't got a chance when our own kids go on like that. sad

Ana Sat 08-Feb-14 13:01:48

To be fair, one did stand up for us - but was immediately shot down as being 'self-righteous'! grin

annodomini Sat 08-Feb-14 13:14:16

Cheeky young mares!

kittylester Sat 08-Feb-14 13:16:48

I've read it - they are only a touch judgmental aren't they! angry

LizG Sat 08-Feb-14 13:17:20

Grrr. Patronising dear 'young' things.

Natsnan Sat 08-Feb-14 13:18:24

Had to restrain myself from registering and giving them a piece of my mind !!

harrigran Sat 08-Feb-14 13:24:10

Just what I was thinking anno, cheeky mares.
I bet there are a lot of DDs who can't knit or crochet for toffee but do we mock them ? no because we are tolerant and long suffering.

Galen Sat 08-Feb-14 14:02:41

Little darlings!
But to be fair, the GNs on here seem to be a lot more technically savvy than their Parents.
Their parents seem to be more equivalent to my late mother.
Although I must say that even my young cleaner insists on switching everything off at the mains as she is convinced that the electricity leaks out otherwise.hmm

Thank you (I feel as though I've arrived with a thread with my name in the title) blushbut I confess that the first time I used a mobile(you remember the things the size of a brick?) I did hold it up to my mouth as if speaking into a mike. Cue for DH in hysterics. And the family still make that gesture when I am struggling with touch phone which has a mind of its own.blush

annodomini Sat 08-Feb-14 14:27:34

I accidentally ran over my first mobile. It must have fallen out of the car as I opened the door. It still worked, though the screen was cracked. That doesn't make me a technophobe nor does my accidentally washing another phone.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 08-Feb-14 17:04:49

Go for it Natsnan! grin

margaretm74 Sat 08-Feb-14 17:29:10

When all the lights go out will they be able to cope? We'll be teaching them how to sew on a hand or treadle machine, how to knit, how to cook on one gas ring etc

And how to write letters, how to use a public phone, etc.

Galen Sat 08-Feb-14 18:31:42

I've just got dd to install FaceTime. She's just used it smile I introduced her to apple and iPad. She now agrees it's great.

Rosannie Sat 08-Feb-14 19:10:57

Well! Just read all those very patronising comments
Do they not know how well we do against all odds to keep up in this new tech age? There are so many skills that some of them are lacking e.g. letter writing and even cooking, but we would never sarcastically point that out on here - would we?hmm

margaretm74 Sat 08-Feb-14 19:14:45

They think we are all a lot of doddery old idiots.

Rosannie Sat 08-Feb-14 19:20:36

Almost makes you want to plan some small revenge, but that would be childish. Wouldn't it?hmm grin

whenim64 Sat 08-Feb-14 19:30:56

Let's have a competition, then. We'll try to keep up with Smartphones and iPads (both of which I use frequently and forward new apps to them that I think they'll be able to use), and they can show us how they hand sew hems, buttons, kids' school labels, use sewing machines to make curtains and clothes, knit, crochet, bake on a tight budget, teach the grandchildren to bake, re-cover dining chairs, change fuses and plugs, paint and decorate and all the other things they didn't bother learning when we offered to show them. Cheeky monkeys!!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 08-Feb-14 19:31:51

You got any ideas Rosannie? grin

Ana Sat 08-Feb-14 19:34:38

They don't care about most of those things though, do they? Not with iron-on labels, plugs fitted on all new appliances and cheap supermarket clothes etc.

Galen Sat 08-Feb-14 19:36:15

Just been having a FaceTime conversation with my aunt via our iPads. She's 92!

Rosannie Sat 08-Feb-14 19:40:26

Well said Whenim64, sorry jinglbells I'm all talk so no ideas at the moment but I will keep thinking and I'm sure there are some cunning Grans out there who have got their danders up too who can do some plotting!

merlotgran Sat 08-Feb-14 19:53:49

This is the funniest thing I've read in ages. Thanks, jingl grin

Nelliemoser Sat 08-Feb-14 19:55:55

It made me smile! We could do a similar one in retaliation about how we feel about our their generation.
My 11yr old great niece has has to teach her mum about computer use. I am better than my niece is.
