To Profile or not.

It took me a while to discover the Profile facility on Gransnet. I think it is nice to be able to get a bit of a flavour of the person without them having to disclose too much about themselves.

I often click on someone when I have read an interesting post from them and when there is no Profile I feel disappointed that I can't picture them (I don't mean by photograph necessarily) their age and family etc.

What do others think ?

Oh, it's numbers ...

I play regularly but although I am literate I am definitely not numerate, but don't worry Rose this is a game of luck and skill played with tiles.

It is based on the card game of Rummy where you have a run of numbers (of the same colour) or sets such as three of a kind (same number different colour).

There is something we call a smiley but it is more like a wild card/tile which can be used as any number.

The object of the game is to correctly put your tiles down on the table and to have none left. You interact with the other players moving their tiles and inserting or adding yours.

It has the same addictive quality as GN so be warned.

Nan Kate I hope you read the 2 Robert Goddard thrillers which preceded Never Look Back. I do hope I have got this right but I think I am that the original 2 will make sense of the one you are reading.

Rummikub, now that`s a name from the past. One of our daughters and her then husband bought it for us for a Christmas present back in the very early 90s, but I`m sorry to say that neither of us took to it very much. and it ended up at the back of a cupboard, where it no doubt still resides!
Going back to profiling, I`m another nosey beggar who likes to know about folk, so always look where the name is blued.

I never realised blued names meant there was a Profile. You learn something every day. Thanks number please.

I have only filled in parts of my profile and agree, sadly have to, with the advice of not disclosing too much of yourself on the net. I have used the Breast Cancer Care forums for friendship, advice and support but some of us were, are targeted with personal messages there.
A number of us received a personal message asking us for our bank details hmmas the person sending us the message wanted us to have some money, a legacy left to help cancer patients. Of course we all knew it was a scam and flagged the message up but it was still not very nice to be targeted. And a few times I have had the odd private message there from someone offering a cure for a sum of money! Breast Cancer Care were, are very quick to act on reported posts and block the user but by then you have been sent, seen the message.
