Does anyone have the G Tech bagged cordless vacuum? Thinking of getting one, so interested in any comments re effectiveness or otherwise? Thanks

Hi, Lisagran
I didn't want to read and run. I haven't got the g tech, but a dyson which I'm very happy with.
However, if you do a search, there have been a few threads on cordless vacs, so you might find comments there on the g tech. If memory serves me right, comments were quite positiv, but don't rely on my memory!
Good luck. ?

Happy with ours and wouldn't buy anything Dyson after yesterday's news.

I have a Dyson cordless. It’s very good, but when it breaks I will buy another make!
James Dyson should be ashamed. Rats leaving sinking ship?!

Gtech is manufactured in china.
They said last February that there was a possibility of moving some production back to Worcester 1n 2019 but if they did would only be employing about 100 workers.

I have a dyson and would go for G tech or another similar one recommended on Mumsnet next time .

We have a GTech, it's about three years old and we love it. I find our Sebo vacuum cleaner too heavy to carry upstairs so only use the Gtech. We bought it on the recommendation of two friends both of whom are also very happy with it.

I have a Shark which I’m finding very good, it has two batteries which means that you are never left with a half done floor.

Hi. We have a Dyson and love it. Very light. Although don't know if I would buy one again after yesterday's news

Thanks for your comments. Bit limited on cash at the moment so can’t run to a Dyson - and, as you say, he’s a bit of a traitor!
It’s the Gtech BAGGED one I’m interested in - used a bag less one at an air bnb last summer and seemed to get dust everywhere when emptying it.

Gonegirl Wed 23-Jan-19 22:05:34

My cordless dyson fills up so quickly, and then you have to empty it and, yes, the dust goes all over me.

I would go back to my ordinary corded vacuum cleaner if it wasn't so heavy. I don't think there is a cordless one that's a lot of good.

I like the sound of the bagged GTech. Didn't know there was such a thing available. Reviews sound good too.

Lisagran Wed 23-Jan-19 22:18:02

Thanks, Gonegirl. This new GTech cordless is fairly light and has a replaceable bag that’s supposed to last a couple of months. I’ll drag OH to Currys tomorrow I think smile

Gonegirl Wed 23-Jan-19 22:34:18

Looking at the specs for my dyson and this GTech bagged, it looks like my dyson holds 0.53 litres dust. GTech bagged holds one and a half litres. Wonder how expensive the bags are. I think you would be changing them quite often.

Gonegirl Wed 23-Jan-19 22:35:48

Or do you empty the bag each time? confused

Lisagran Wed 23-Jan-19 22:42:46

The bags apparently work out about £10 a year - but there’s an offer on at the moment whereby you get 20 bags in with the price (£199)

Have a Bosch Athlet very lightweight. Cordless vacs are brilliant.

Gtech is ok, won’t say brilliant. It’s very light but struggles with our deep pile carpets.

No mention of Vax cordless ? Anyone have one of these?

reelashosser Thu 24-Jan-19 10:56:50

We hate our Gtech! It isn't very efficient in picking up dust and fluff, is fiddly to empty and also fiddly to connect the attachments. When we bought it, my husband had a very difficult health problem arise, and it was too late to return it by the time things calmed down again.

We would never have a corded vacuum again and we have gone back to using an old Morphy Richards cheap cordless vacuum which is now held together with masking tape! It cost a third of the price of the Gtech and is far more convenient and efficient.

Dyson. One charge does whole house. Empty frequently.

midgey Thu 24-Jan-19 11:33:31

My daughter has a Vax I am impressed with it. It is great on wood floors but I’m not sure how good it would be on carpets. The vax is easy to empty but doesn’t hold very much dust. If you want a vacuum cleaner as good as a conventional one then it would appear that you need to go for the latest and more expensive.

I read it as "Cordless begging stick. My mind boggled for a moment grin
