Good Morning Saturday

Morning all! Late today as I woke at 5, went to the loo then decided I needed to finish a dream so got back in bed and did so. Woke properly much later than usual as a result!

It's been wet overnight here on the south coast but it's just damp and grey and mild now. Won't stop DH going on his bike club Saturday ride this morning then to Fratton Park this afternoon for the football match v. Bradford City. Special interest to him as he retired from the staff of Bradford University in 2003.

Meanwhile, I have some family history research to get stuck into plus the papers and some recorded TV.

I made a tea loaf yesterday morning Sar53 with fruit soaked overnight. It's nice!

Where has all the lovely weather gone? pretty grey and cold today here in the south east. Unexpected as it was in February I guess we should be grateful for the short burst of sunshine that we had.

Grandchildren here for the weekend, so woken up quite early. Swimming later something they enjoy and we are lucky enough to have a soft play area at the club I go to so hoping they will amuse themselves there afterwards.

Good morning all. Another Barter Books fan here. Wish I lived a bit closer to it as I would be there every week.
Does anyone else enjoy the Waterstones Bookshop Cafe's too. I hadn't realised until a trip to Glasgow that they incorporated them in most cities. Sadly not in Durham though. My books are mostly bought for the kindle these days but oh how I still love the sight and smell of the bookshop.

I must tackle a tottering pile of paperwork that is threatening to become an avalanche, and then I have a free day, with dinner and tv catch up at my partner’s this evening. They are reproductions, but good ones, and they have a commentary on the reverse which gives a lot of social history. I have one of central Birmingham from 1902 and it is fascinating to read the different businesses and shops operating in streets I know: lots of solicitors and accountants like today, but also drapers, the inspector of needlework for the corporation, and an artificial teeth maker.

Morning everyone. sunny and dry near Belfast. Off to theatre (GOH) this afternoon with 2 sisters to see I Shall Wear Purple.

It's a murky start here in South Notts, it's bittersweet for you Urmstongran isn't it? I'm sure you'll try to think of the good times.
I'll spend this afternoon tacking a small wholecloth quilt pattern and will grapple with the crossword later. I need to get some more soup for puss and oh heck, I've just remembered the ironing.

Good morning, dry but dull in east London. Off to Southend today (to see DP's brother and sister) by train as car will not have a replacement tyre til Tuesday. Then it's back to the Union chapel to see Milton Jones this evening. I'm yet another fan of Barter books, lovely place to browse and relax - remember 'keep calm and carry on'.

Good morning all; it's very grey and damp in Northampton this morning and I was pleased to have lie-in for once.
Have just put a load of washing in, as I have all but run out of socks!
Had a very long coffee with Maw yesterday, we talked non-stop for three hours! A lovely morning.
Going to the cinema this afternoon to see the new film 'The Aftermath', set in Germany just after the end of WW2.

I’m another Barters Books fan Harris27 and could spend hours in there and never leave empty handed . I love Alnwick too.

Busy day ahead today with lots of chores but I like Saturdays . I don’t have to go to “that place” and tomorrow is Sunday .

Mild and damp here near the Mersey, I suspect we have the calm before the storm ! Freya will be here tomorrow.

Must hurtle to get a freshly baked loaf before the local baker sells out as I can't stand any other bread.
Making a banana loaf to use the bananas up as a couple are a bit speckly so it saves wasting them.
Lemons for Tuesday too ( pancakes ) and maybe a lemon drizzle loaf.

Morning all , it was nice earlier but wet and windy now , Son and friends still asleep , hope the weather clears up soon so they can enjoy the delights of NI countryside

Good morning from the Highlands of Scotland - although it feels like the middle of the day here and it's really sunny but I am still in my pyjamas! Had to do a bit of painting for the first time in my life. We did a loft "den" for DGS last year before DH passed away in November and the downstairs area didn't need much in the way of re-painting so one of the young lads did a touch up job but it really wasn't looking very good. I haven't really felt like doing much recently but DH was such a perfectionist when it came to decorating it began to annoy me so last night I got the ladder, paint and brushes ready! Left the pyjamas on as I though I would be covered in paint at some point but I managed it okay. Really pleased with myself so off to have a shower and get on with the rest of the day.

Jacq, lovely to hear from you. Jangran and I were wondering how you were.

You are a braver woman than I, going up a loft.

Good Afternoon Marydoll - just to re-assure you that I was not up a loft ladder!!! I was on a small stepladder touching up the ceiling and hall area around the hatch!!

I bet Alnwick is pronounced in a different way to its spelling ?? I shall look it up on Google Instant Street View. I would love that book shop. Help Mary need your Scottish tones to pronounce the town’s name.

We loved Barter Books too when we visited Alnwick too. "Nankate* We were told you pronounce it Anick although I am prepared to stand corrected by locals!
