That you can buy ‘flatulence-beating’ knickers?
https://www.myshreddies.com/
I’ve just seen some adverts in the loos at Killington Lake Services on the M6.

In my simple way, I thought it was advertising Shreddies the breakfast cereal, and that eating them would minimise flatulenceconfusedhmmgrin

This thread made me laugh out loud and reminded me of the much-missed Sir Terry Wogan. The Togmeister often used to say that trapped wind wasn't a problem, it was when it escaped that the real trouble started!

Well, you learn something new everyday! Anyone know if they're worth buying?

A quote from the Pinkpantaloon website:
Exquisitely crafted underwear for gentlemen who like to stand out from the crowd. presumably because they aren't wearing their trousers blush hmm grin

They should be given free with every WI subscription. ?????

To borrow an overused adjective from the DM, that was hilarious.

Gonegirl Tue 01-Oct-19 15:42:07

It's when a single one lasts across the whole length of the pub floor. blush

Gonegirl Tue 01-Oct-19 15:40:52

Might get some for my teacher daughter for Xmas. She can get a bit notorious for it

Gonegirl Tue 01-Oct-19 15:40:07

Because you would never guess what the second chap along is doing would you?

(That from their website, "how to stand whilst farting for most effective use of the pants"

janeainsworth Tue 01-Oct-19 14:40:05

Not heard that daisyboots but I’ve heard them referred to as ‘trollies’ in the past grin

Daisyboots Tue 01-Oct-19 13:17:44

janeainsworth I don't think Kellogs would have much claim because the word 'shreddies' has been used fir a long time to mean underpants. He is exmilitary and has always called them shreddies (or sometimes grundies).

pamdixon Sun 29-Sep-19 21:03:02

well you learn something new every day! I'm fascinated by the thought of those knickers. Anyone out there tried them and do they work?!!!!

annygee Sun 29-Sep-19 20:17:02

It's not about the knickers but it's a rather funny youtube item on the subject - have fun... www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQzp2OR9eW4

janeainsworth Sun 29-Sep-19 19:04:07

jo grin Yes it shouldn’t be assumed that letting go is always under the control of the perpetrator blush

Sadly I've reached an age when 'stepping away' can be enough to make me let one go! blush And one can't always 'step away'. It's at times like those I wish I'd been more diligent with my pelvic floor exercises!
I remember my FIL used to walk along accompanied by little popping sounds which my children found hilarious. Now I've turned into him!

janeainsworth Sun 29-Sep-19 18:55:55

Yes I think I’d be grossed out too Gabriella grin

GabriellaG54 Sun 29-Sep-19 18:17:43

I saw the ad in Oct issue of Woman and Home and agree that it's not in itself funny (they just look like swim trunks) but in certain contexts, vould be.
I stopped going to a particular WI as a number of ladies were prone to 'letting loose' when we were seated, listening to a guest speaker.
After sitting in the row behind a perpetrator once too often, I decided it wasn't for me. grin

janeainsworth Sun 29-Sep-19 17:32:12

Gabriella I’m afraid you’ve missed the point.
Of course knickers in themselves are rarely amusing.
They are only amusing in certain contexts, for example Katherine Whitehorn’s time-honoured advice about what to do if your knickers fall down at a cocktail party (step out of them as unobtrusively as possible, walk away, and pretend they’re nothing to do with you).
What I found amusing about the advert in the M6 female toilets was that the fart-busting knickers had the same name as a well-known breakfast cereal, which as annsixty pointed out, conjures up a stereotypical image of a curly-permed nanna busily occupied knitting knickers.

Some very clever marketing there, but I’m surprised that Kellogg’s haven’t spotted it and taken legal action.

Esmerelda Sun 29-Sep-19 16:40:59

Mamma66 you had me laughing out loud ... so sorry for those that don't find it amusing, but each to his own! ?

TyneAngel Sun 29-Sep-19 16:28:28

Thanks to everyone for some much-needed laughter and smiles.

Fabulous50s Sun 29-Sep-19 16:16:50

I know this will sound prim, but farting in company is one thing that REALLY offends me. I detest breathing in gas that only moments ago was in the perpetrators bowels.
Everyone needs to release gas, but some are just too lazy to step away - and slob enough to find it funny. It is not funny and is disgusting.

GabriellaG54 Sun 29-Sep-19 15:22:12

I don't actually think they're funny, either the knickers or farts.
