Sending love to Lins,love0c, NannyJan and your family and all with health and family worries?

Newquay Thu 12-Dec-19 07:54:47

Morning I love reading your posts although don’t often post. Just seen Martin Lewis on telly-urging folks you stop buying unnecessary tat for Christmas instead gift in person’s name to a charity. He wished those of us who celebrate Christmas a Happy Christmas and to all lonely or grieving “an easy passage”. What lovely sentiments

Good morning all. Early wakeup at 6.00am care of the dog; she sits right next to my side of the bed (she's not allowed on the bed) and the wagging of her tail against my bedside cupboard wakes me up!

Nice easy day today, some laundry, a little housework, then off to M and S to get a couple of things. Am a little worried, as I seem to be well-prepared for Christmas: cards done, presents wrapped, tree up, doesn't feel right somehow, I must have forgotten something!

Marydoll, love your posts, they are hilarious, you certainly get yourself in some pickles, long may they continue.

Here's hoping Mr Gillybob keeps on improving, it's very positive that he's now on a ward, it must be a relief for Gilly. Hope you all have a good day and don't forget to vote smile

Pantglas2 Thu 12-Dec-19 08:04:28

Morning all from still dark but dry north Wales and welcome to Summerfly - sounds better than winterfly doesn’t it! This is such a lovely thread to greet the morning and get to meet everyone.

Safe trip back Urmstongran - and Marydoll you’re such a hoot in the mornings! I’m pretty nifty at reversing too but only if I do it alone - can’t be doing with all the twirling finger, left hand down bit from DH!

Good to hear from gillybob yesterday even though she still has worries, here’s the place to air them. Hope things improve with your son love0c and all who are feeling down have something cheery happen today.

Off to vote later then coffee with a friend before settling in for a cosy day in front of the fire.

Good Morning All
Yesterday I had a visit to our local hospital to "sign off " on my cataract.
My hubby dropped me off with the intention of hubby ringing me when I was finished.
I had my bus pass.
I did not have my phone and decided to get the local very local bus as I was waiting for the bus . This is a very local bus that went out from the hospital and eventually arrived in the bustop in our local town.
This was very interesting journey all around a lot of local towns and villages
It took over an hour with the small bus going in and out of lots of local villages.
This bus popped in and out of a lot of places I have never seen before.
I really enjoyed the ride but going direct is probably easier.
It was like a mystery trip but I did not take my sandwiches.

Good morning from frosty NE.
Woken by the doorbell at 7.45 am, Royal Mail delivery.
We are going to GD's school carol service in Durham cathedral this afternoon and then taking her home as her Mum is at the pantomime with youngest GD.
Hoping for some pain relief for gilly with her dental problems and hoping that her DH is getting the attention he needs.

Good morning from a chilly, grey Essex. Had a lovely day yesterday with DGS's and when DS came to collect them at 7pm, I held them to ransom until he had put up my outside Xmas lights??(same every year to pin him down! ) All going well and lights were insitu and tangle free until he plugged them in and they gave a little flicker and died! So it will be a trip to the shops later and try to find a set that is left on the shelf!! Usual day of school volunteering(must remember to vote on the way) and will see another reception Xmas production.
Love the fitting room scenario Marydoll, photos next time please! Thoughts to everyone today and hoping Mr Gillybobs continues to improve xxx

Good morning from the Scottish Borders. I slept in but I have been reminded on my news feed that it's polling day. It's also DDs birthday and we are hosting a party later.
I am very happy to hear Gillybob's news that her DH has been making progress.

Anniebach Thu 12-Dec-19 08:53:31

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Younger daughter and her husband here again today

Raining in Mid Wales

oldgaijin Thu 12-Dec-19 08:54:47

Good morning from Aberdeenshire...there's a bit of frost and a glorious sunrise.

Marydoll, you've been at it again!

The usual walk round the woodies with the mutt, then back to attack a mountain of ironing.

Have a good day everyone.

MawB Thu 12-Dec-19 08:55:49

Good morning all - the frost has gone and it is dark and (quelle surprise!) damp again
Last Arts Society meeting of the year (still can’t get used to not calling it NADFAS) and I realise I have missed the last 5 , mostly due to going the see the grandchildren in London for whom Thursday is a good day or DD in Birmingham as that is one of the days she doesn’t work.
Now after that, I am sure there is something I am meant to be doing, but can’t quite think what. The date seems familiar, but.....? No, no idea.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Nortsat46 Thu 12-Dec-19 08:57:12

Morning Mick and team ... it’s misty and grey in east London.
Hope we all (especially those who are facing challenges) have a good day.
I am avoiding thinking about the election ...

Yesterday I was so impressed to hear about Marydoll’s veterinary skills with the ‘holy’ animals. Today of course, I have revised my opinion of her and am phoning the RSPCA, after learning that the ‘holy goat’s’ legs are back to front.
I can’t imagine the condition of the poor ‘holy donkey’ on his arrival at the Sanctuary (if indeed he ever arrived ...)
We see new and unwelcome sides of people, on the Good Morning thread ...

Auntieflo Thu 12-Dec-19 09:05:36

Good morning Michael, Annie and all. I hope yiu are enjoying your daughter's visit Annie.
DH said yesterday, after lots of persuading, that he would get my little fibre optic tree, and the strings of lights, down from the loft today. Fingers crossed.
We will go out to vote at some time, but I also have a parcel being delivered. Time slot given, 8am - 9pm!!!
Perhaps it will be put in a safe place if we are out.
At the moment it is grey and damp, but not too cold, and I can't get motivated to get moving.
Marydoll thanks for making me laugh with your antics.
To Gillybob and Mr G, lots of loving thoughts for your recovery. I hope he is coping , being on a general ward now.
To one and all, have a nice day

GrannyGravy13 Thu 12-Dec-19 09:05:36

Goodmorning Mick and all from a grey S E Essex.

Off to the dentist for hygienist appointment, and as I am really phobic about anything dental I am in a bit of a tizz!!

Going to lunch with D, GS and my late Mums best friend, always lovely to see her but bittersweet as Mum is not with us.

Keep safe x

Mapleleaf Thu 12-Dec-19 09:07:46

Good morning all,

It’s chilly and grey here this morning, but dry so far.

The gardener arrived at 8 am to cut back a big tree. I hope it hasn’t annoyed the neighbours - I knew he came early as he’s been to a neighbour, but I didn’t expect 8 am! I suppose he’s got to make the most of the daylight hours at this time of year.

Marydoll, your antics are hilarious. You could write a book and make a fortune!?? I so look forward to reading about your adventures/ antics/escapades. You brighten my day. Now I have an image of a holy goat only able to walk backwards, and a three legged donkey in bandages!!??

Welcome, Summerfly. You are guaranteed a giggle if you stick with us here on the GM thread. ?

To all with worries or illness, I hope today brings you some comfort.

I’ve done my voting, read GN so now need to tackle some ironing.

Have a good day, whatever your plans.

Good morning from a grey Leicestershire.

Late this morning so must have slept well!
Coffee with friends this morning.

Enjoy your lunch Kitty I love Leamington Spa.

Welcome Summerlove.
Hope your hospital visit goes well Lins.
Safe journey Urmston and I hope your problem with your son is resolved today LovOc.
Thinking of you and your family too NannyJan.

Your missive as always brought a chuckle Marydoll. I bet your pupils used to love coming to school - never knowing what to expect!

Love as always to Gilly.

dragonfly46 Thu 12-Dec-19 09:19:56

Sorry Summerfly welcome!

DoraMarr Thu 12-Dec-19 09:22:41

Good morning from a very rainy Birmingham. Off to vote, then will be making teas and coffees for volunteers driving people to polling stations. We are having a Christmas get- together in the building this evening, but it will have to be held indoors instead of around our pretty courtyard tree. I will probably stay up to see the election results come in, so must lay in some snacks.
I hope everyone has a good day.

gillybob Thu 12-Dec-19 09:25:02

Good morning from the NE coast .

Another night of throbbing toothache means that despite 2 lots of antibiotics my root canal will almost certainly need to be redone . The thought of the injections alone in my poor sore mouth has got me all worked up.

I know it’s early days but DH not managing very well at all so far on the ward ( I’m not surprised) . Very hard for him when he can’t get up, eat or drink and can barely make himself heard/understood. I was acting as a kind of interpreter during visiting so crikey knows how he manages when I’m not there. Poor man. Some of the nurses still seem to think he has dementia and it’s really bugging me to hear them talk to him like some bleedin’ half wit. So much for the outreach team . I feel like just bringing him home where I know he would get the care he needs . Physio are going to try and get him standing for a few seconds later but waiting until I get there .

An elderly gentleman ( almost 93) in the bed across the ward asked me what had happened to him and when I told him he said “poor b*gg*r....... don’t you worry pet I’ll look out for him” I could’ve cried .

Have a good Thursday everyone . Safe journey Urmstongran . You’ll soon be counting the days before you are heading back smile
To all those suffering or feeling sad, I hope you see some sunshine soon and to those enjoying the best of times long may they continue .

A warm welcome to our new Good Morning friends.

I’m sorry I haven’t been the best company of late .

Love Gilly x

Scentia Thu 12-Dec-19 09:48:53

Gilly
My father had delirium after a bout of Pneumonia last year, he struggled so much then one day I went in and he was up and at it having a shower and talking sense again, I hope it is this sudden for your DH but don’t lose hope and keep on being his voice❤️

cornergran Thu 12-Dec-19 09:53:35

A late good morning from a very wet corner of Somerset. Missed yesterday’s post gilly, so sorry you and your husband have more battles to fight. Sending love to you both.

Hello to summerlove. Too many messages have gone before for me to remember so good wishes to you all and I hope Thursday is kind to everyone.

Urmstongran Thu 12-Dec-19 09:54:42

Just at the airport - eaten breakfast and finishing my coffee but I wanted to say it’s good to get your daily news again gillybob. Baby steps, but going in the right direction,

Maw your post was witty!

And Marydoll just sit quietly today.
?

EllanVannin Thu 12-Dec-19 10:17:01

Good Morning All x
Cold and breezy but dry at the moment.
I'm still laughing at Marydoll's donkeys, two left feet and back to front legs hahaha. Brilliant.
Then the dressing room saga, hilarious. What a picture !

Whether I go near the polling station is debateable as my legs don't work properly in the cold ( circulation problems ) and they tend to hurt too. We'll see but I'm in no hurry.

Not much on the agenda today really apart from finishing the cards off ready for posting. I haven't got the tree up or anything else showing signs of Christmas as yet, just been making sure that all the children are sorted with their presents----some going with 7 of them !

I can't go far anyway because of the expectation of parcels as I'm not sure if mrs thing will be in next door to take them in.

It's quite a culture shock for Mr Gillybob moving on to the main ward and it's bound to be confusing for him to begin with but that will pass. Let's hope he starts to pick up now and gain some strength even though it'll be a slow process but he'll get there, Gillybob. xx
You'll have to get that tooth sorted as it will stop you from thinking straight because of the pain. Poor you. x

Safe journey to Urmstongran, on a rainy return to Manchester.
Hope Dragonfly isn't feeling too bad with the treatment and anyone else who feels as though they've been through the mangle I hope things improve.
Have a good day and take care. x
